Resurrection Day
People, I am officially a high school teacher. Had my first two classes today - I am a part-time Theatre History teacher for a local performing arts high school that operates within a regular high school. This job came out of nowhere in the last two weeks, and I'm more than a little freaked out since the last time I had contact with Theatre History was when I was in college... er, lots of years ago. Fake it, fake it, fake it! I teach out of a former science lecture room, and my "desk" is complete with sink and gas valves... Walking through the halls to get to the class and then afterwards heading out was just bizarre. I had little baby flashbacks to my high school experience (although it looks like I've thankfully repressed most of them) and I kept waiting for an '80's soundtrack to start up...
I haven't been awake that early in months, if not years - and fortunately the adrenaline rush lasted through second period. It's not fun yet - too stressful for that - but I think in a week or two it will be...
And with any luck, this year of teaching will be a big boost to those grad school applications!
Now, to plot out the upcoming fall TV schedule...
