MUSIC MEME!

I got pegged by algernon_mouse.

Wait . . . that didn't sound very good.

Comment and I'll give you a letter. In your journal, list 10 of your favorite songs that begin with that letter.

My letter was F.

1. "Feed The Tree" - Belly
Yes, I admit it . . . the reason I love this song is for the lyric, so take your hat off, boy, when you're talkin' to me, because I *am* just that easily amused.

2. "Fa Fa" - Guster
This is one of those great, cheery, upbeat tunes with really, incredibly depressing lyrics. Kind of like "Girlfriend In A Coma", by The Smiths.

3. "Fool In The Rain" - Led Zeppelin
I never stop laughing at the protagonist's useless emo angst -- and back in the day, before emo!

4. "Forever In Blue Jeans" - Neil Diamond
Grew up listening to Neil Diamond. When I got old enough, I realized that he was also a hell of a songwriter. Listen and you'll see what I mean.

5. "Friday I'm In Love" - The Cure
Come on, isn't it cute how The Cure went all mainstream with this song, all the while yapping about how they'd never sell out? Poseurs. Still like the song.

6. "Flathead" - The Fratellis
Too fucking catchy for words.

7. "Fightin' On The Same Side" - The Hooters
The Hooters aren't terribly well known outside of the Philadelphia area, and especially not for anything off their first album, which was pretty rough. Still, you can really hear the melodica, from which they took their name, in this song.

8. "Funny How Love Can Be" - The Kit Kats
Love this group. LOVE LOVE LOVE. Another one I grew up hearing . . . they used to play at the lounge in the bowling alley in my hometown. I remember my parents going to see them a few times before they broke up-- or possibly after they reformed temporarily under a new name. They were playing rockabilly in the years after it went out of fashion, and well before Brian Setzer singlehandedly brought it back.

9. "(I Would Walk) 500 Miles" - The Proclaimers
In theory? This should count. In practice? I was running out of titles that began with "F".

10. "Forever Young" - Alphaville
You know, I always liked this song, for no reason other than that it sounded pretty.
