So, I am going to split my last days in two entries and gonna start with the eve of 22nd before reviewing my last days from a more personal perspective.
Reason?
This post here is mainly to tell a little abut the event and show off some of the Photos I had taken, whereas the 2nd entry will be more for friends who care about what's happening in my life and don't only wanna see some pretty things! ;)
The Project "Illuminale Trier" already started last year - back then 1000's of people from this area did "Lantern workshops" to design many of the shown illuminated art-pieces...
In 2011 the Project was shown off for free and you didn't need tickets, also it was called "LichterGartenFest" (LightGardenFestival) back then... Yet, I didn't know about it around that time.
This year there was some promotion on posters around the city and in busses, and after seeing the huge illuminated dragon on the poster for this year, I was sure I'd go to see this event with my own eyes.
Finally after struggeling to get a ticket, since I simply lacked the time, I obtained one at friday afternoon and after a hard week I was really happy to have something to look forward to.
Around 7PM, just when the sun was about to set, I made my way with the normal city-bus and later a shuttlebus until up to the "Petrisberg" area, which has a science parc and a lot of nature, etc. around.
I had been there a couple of times this summer, also to record my Video for Fade's "Beautiful" Contest, since it is simply a beautiful area. So I really had quite some expectations about what this illuminated scenary may look like, the firetheatre and there were also some japanese-inspired things promised.
I arrived around 8PM when the sun was almost down, and the atmosphere around the beachvolleyballfield was already breathtaking...

This area was supposed to be the "Asian/Japanese" one, so there were many lanterns to be seen which seemed asian inspired...

Next to the beachvolleyballfield, also the some drumming event took place later that evening - unfortunately this was illuminated really bad and so the Photos I took didn't turn out good at all.

Passing by that area, you reached the forest part of the science parc. All around the grass lanterns looking like fish, owls, ghosts, houses, dragons, cats, moon, stars, bats, etc. were placed.

There was also an area with music, that was the area where the big slide and the little purple looking owl were illuminated.
Whereas the little path with the houses and ghosts from the beginning of the post was almost in darkness and silence.
I really enjoyed walking around there, listening to "Moment of Life", thinking about the past weeek.
My favorite area probably, was the waterparc, though. Many little lanterns were put there and created a really dreamy and romantic atmosphere...

The entire festival was overcrowded with people when I left around 10PM - which made me miss the firetheatre, unfortunately.
But it got really cold after 2hours of walking around only in a hoodie, so I decided it would be best to take my camera and make my way back home, always being guided by those little lamps, that I thought were absolutely cute, being nothing more than little dots!

"Inner Peace", "Fool" and "Moment Of Life" from Fade really were my soundtrack this eve. The relaxing, yet thoughtful melodies fit perfectly and if it hadn't been that cold, I'd have loved to pick a spot to sit down and reflect a little about my life in that atmosphere.
Maybe next year it will be warmer... I just hope this festival will take place again.
It was nothing "too" overwhelming, but for a city like Trier, it was already quite something!
