Gearing up for TGS 09 + MGS: Peace Walker

That's right, folks--tomorrow begins that fabled wonderland of video game fabulousness known as TOKYO GAME SHOW. *__*

Most excited to hear what Square-Enix is going to release about FFXIII and Versus XIII, of course, but also looking forward to other hot things like this:

Kojima Productions' Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker Teaser Site

I was totally blown away by the original MGS when it came out on Playstation all those years ago--I'd never played anything like it with its grand, cinematic execution mixed with Japanese-style drama and character development was very striking (even to someone who hates FPSs and has never been a particular spy movie fan). Lost touch with the series after that installment, but glad to see it's still alive and kicking (and pumping out those cryptic and oddly philosohpical but riveting one-liners~ lol!).

Speaking of which, I translated that cool dialogue on the teaser site. It's apparently between some cutsie interviewer girl (Meiling?) and some jaded, cool warrior woman (Big Boss's wife, maybe?):

Person 1: You are crossing a suspension bridge. The bridge is narrow; there is only room enough for one person to cross at a time. From the opposite side, you see a man walking toward you. He is carrying a gun.

Person 2: I’d shoot.

Person 1: What if the man were your husband?

Person 2: I’d shoot.

Person 1: So that you can save yourself?

Person 2: No. I’d shoot to split the pain. The pain of who dies and who lives.

:: BANG ::

Wowie, I LOVE the warrior woman's voice. Her phrasing is so cool and otokoyaku-sounding... I wonder if they got an ex-Takarasienne to voice her? It really sounds like it. In fact, her voice sounds kinda familiar... Takano Urara of fake otokoyaku fame (as Sakura Taisen's Maria), or maybe Kobayashi Sanae being cool and butch? (how hot would that be??) Hopefully we'll find out in the next few days.

Looking forward to TGS!! XD

ffxiii, cool women, seiyuu, video games, final fantasy, translation
