1. I saw Eddie Izzard last night with L2 and he was delightful as always. And super hot in his tux and heels and eyeliner. If I were looking for a romantic partner, an action transvestite is really what I'd want <3.

2. Gallifrey season 3 is getting SO GOOD I CAN'T TAKE IT. Every time I listen to an ep I take a month break in between because I get ( Read more... )

circe fails at fandom, l2, pointless entry is pointless, rl, big finish is the best, wangst, fandom wankkkk

Tumblr is a bit like that. It's one of the things I do miss about LJ.
Especially as I've noticed a LOT of people on tumblr don't want a discussion, they want to state their opinion, and watch out for the rocks if you dare disagree...

But really, interacting with new people? Yeah, good luck with that. It's not easy at all :(

they want to state their opinion, and watch out for the rocks if you dare disagree...I think part of the problem is that the way tumblr is set up extremes are what get noticed/reblogged, so if you're not sending an ask but reblogging to say "I mostly agree with you, but have you considered x,y,z?" that's not as rebloggable as "You are 7000% WRONG, here's why!" or "You are 7000% right, let me add more points on why you are right and the best!" It just invites wank IMO. :P ( ... )

I didn't even add anything, it was brilliant meta from kilodalton and even so I STILL got someone
But...if they disagreed with the post, why wouldn't they go after the person that wrote it, instead of the person that reblogged it? That doesn't make a lot of sense to me.

it was about the trigger warnings, I still get annoyed about that.
I only saw bits and pieces of that, and I people on both sides saying stupid crap on what could have been a reasonable, illuminating discussion. But, for you personally, as far as I know/remember someone asked you for a trigger warning (in kind of a snotty way), and your response was "I'm not sure if I agree with you, but sure I'll add in a warning if you want one". Like, how is that anything other than a 100% reasonable, correct response? I don't understand why anyone could have a problem with your response in the context that it was presented. Fandom, why.

basically, tumblr often feels a bit like high school again.
I wouldn't even go that far. It's middle school level bullshit.

I STILL wonder that... But maybe I was an easier target, KD is mistress of meta!

But yeah, someone asked (and yeah, I can't say they were exactly polite about it) so I said I admitted I didn't think it was required, added the warning and said I'd try to be more careful in future. But apparently EVERYONE wanted to have a say... Except mostly it was, as you say, just people throwing around THEIR opinions on the matter and yelling at people who disagreed. It's very mature.

And the worst thing is, with the latest drama (which was over a fic TITLE, not the story, but the TITLE being the same) people were even nastier. Some of the comments made weren't even about the apparent 'problem' but about people who MIGHT possibly have been involved...

Yeah... I think you're right. It's definitely very childish!
