Big Finish appreciation post

Sorry, I'm really not trying to spam everyone's flist, but I want to post Big Finish and Elementary stuff separately since there are a bunch of people that are completely uninterested. Feel free to filter by tag (elementasquee/big finish is the best) if it's annoying.

Anyway, I just finished the first season of the Eight Doctor Adventures and I'm closing in on the end of the second season of Gallifrey.

1. EDA Season 1
Oh man, Paul McGann. PM really has such an amazing voice, I could listen to him forever. I mean, even in the audios that are not that great you still get to listen to that voice. <3 Eight is rapidly moving up the ranks of my favorite Doctors, and he's already near the top. Anyway, I've heard that Lucie-Eight is darker than Charley-Eight, but I'm not seeing that so far. I mean, he's a bit shorter with Lucie, but I chalked that up to friction of their being forced to travel together at first. Lucie is growing on me, though I don't really have a great feel for her personality yet. Blood of the Daleks was pretty fabulous, and it was appropriately creepy when you realized who the "saviors" were. I also liked Immortal Beloved because the whole concept was interesting, if creepy. However, the star is really Human Resources, which was totally fantastic. Great concept, great execution, great twists and turns, exciting, everything. (I was wondering though, when they mentioned the CIA if Narvin was skulking about somewhere)

2. Gallifrey Season 2
Okay, so I found Season 1 a little slow, though I enjoyed it. I mean, I was expecting a lot of politics, which is what it was. Season 2 however, ramped up super fast. I have one more ep to go (Insurgency), and I've kind of been putting off listening to it because things went crazy in Pandora and I'm afraid it won't be as awesome. All the things that I'm somewhat skeptical of in the show- like time-loops- are really working for me here. Brax and Narvin are interesting. I just wish there was more Romana/Leela friendship. I know Romana is not the Doctor, but somehow I was expecting less of this "I'm a Timelord/you're a primitive" vibe I get from their relationship. I'm hoping the events in Pandora change that a bit.

3. I've also finally listened to some Six audios! I really want to hear one with Peri, because I loved their dynamic on screen, but none of those have really been on sale since I started looking, so I'm still going to wait. I did however, hear two with Evelyn, who I'm liking a lot. Jubilee was really interesting and it was fun to see where "Dalek" borrowed from it, but I didn't fine it OMGAMAZING like everyone else seems to. I liked the dystopian future and I definitely had Master/Lucy feels, but it seems a bit muddled. IDK. Maybe not the best Six to start with.

I'm actually not done with the Marian Conspiracy but I'm enjoying the historical intrigue so far. It's a nice intro ep for Evelyn. I do like how the audios seem to have a wider range of companion-type- an older history professor seems like a fun match for Six.

Also, there was a sale at AudioGo on the first 50 audios from the main range, so I picked up most of the pre-Zagreus Eight ones, some Five and Six, and I think one Seven. Basically I went to a review site and picked out the top rated ones, added pretty much all Eight regardless of rating because Paul McGann, and pared it down to a reasonable number. I'm excited to get a better sense of non-Eight audios...
