Comiconnnn

Posting again because I went to Comiccon and I wanted to share the the following Doctor Who & X-Men swag:

I HAD NO IDEA THESE EXISTED. I was doing so well at the Con and then I found the Doctor Who store booth and I was doomed. The dude running the booth knew it too. I ended up buying some things I really, really didn't need and also bought these cuties. They live on top of my computer now and are seriously adorable. (The figure in the middle is not a Doctor, obviously, he's Nightcrawler from X-Men/Excalibur, who already lived on my comp) Here's a closeup of Five since it's kind of hard what to see what they look like:

Their heads and hands rotate as well as the arms and legs, and they have little snap points on their feet to go into lego sets and such. I love how they felt the need to give pretty much everyone a sonic, but Six and One get nothing. Sorry guys, that's what you get for being unpopular, I guess?

I hadn't been to comiccon in a while. I was originally supposed to go with an okcupid girl, but then it sold out and then a friend needed help manning a booth, so I volunteered us, but they then only had space for one and I felt bad about backing out since they did need help. So I am rescheduling with okcupid girl. I didn't bother to wear one of my costumes because I was lazy, but once I got there I wished I had- cosplayers are the best part of cons! Someone at my booth apparently saw a whole group as Darkwing Duck characters, which I desperately wanted to see, but alas, I couldn't find them. There was all sorts of awesome, for all fandoms. I saw a ton of Rogues, which was kind of annoying because last time I went I wore my Rogue costume I did not find a single other one to take pics with. Boo.

Who related: I was very sad when I saw a girl in a black dalek costume-dress thing and I was all "You're dalek Sec! That's awesome!" and her response was that she was in fact just trying for "sexy Dalek". I hate "sexy" costumes. WHY. I saw a couple of Tens and Fours and Elevens and a Jack and a couple more lady daleks, but no companions or anything.

Anyway, The only other thing I got at the con was a wonderful Rogue (X-Men) print (and 2 postcards): It's gorgeous and a bit abstract and I really like it:

The artist was also pleased that I got it because he said that it wasn't very popular and that people had asked if he had anything of Rogue but then were disappointed when they saw it. Ugh. I told him that it was probably because unlike the majority of the prints of female characters you see at a con it wasn't all tits and ass. WHATEVER, people. (He does do sexy ladies too; the Storm postcard I got from him was her naked silhouette in the rain)

Said artist was at the "Geeks Out" booth, which is an org dedicated to queer geeks. The booth was staffed by men wearing pink capes when I stopped by. :) They have meet-ups! And events! I signed up for the mailing list. Apparently there was a panel featuring queer women creators in comics on Friday that I missed because I was at work. Curses! I talked to the artist about the panel and asked him about current queer women characters in comics and he was really nice.

It was nice to see a queer presence at an event that is primarily aimed at dudes. I was less enamoured with the only other queer booth I saw (there might have been more, I was a bit overwhelmed) which, as far as I could tell was staffed all by women and had among their decorations a rainbow flag up that said Yaoi, but no corresponding Yuri one. :P I didn't talk to them though, so maybe they were great, I don't know...

Anyway, pointless entry is pointless, I just wanted to show off the tiny Lego Doctors!

character: rogue, fandom: x-men, fandom: doctor who, pointless entry is pointless, rl, i am a consumer whore and how
