Do I even need to say that I loved 300 Rise of an Empire? If you make the decision to see this movie, you will probably enjoy it because it's exactly what you expected. I saw I, Frankenstein today. It's not a good movie, but it's a fun movie. I enjoyed it a lot. If you liked Underworld, you'll probably like it. Stylistically, it's pretty much identical. - I saw The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug today. I liked it a lot more than the previous movie. I pre-ordered Pacific Rim and had it mailed to me the day it was released. I watched it this afternoon and even seeing it a second time on a 32' television screen, it's still thrilling and amazing and evokes all sorts of emotions. It deserves a sequel, damn it.

Strange that Sucker Punch is so reviled when it passes the Bechdel test with flying colors, when the whole story itself is about girls saving themselves and each other. Pacific Rim is the best movie I've seen this year. Yes, it's full of stunning CGI battles between giant monsters and giant robots but it's not empty and meaningless like Transformers. So I saw X-Men: First Class. Good movie. I would have liked more hand-to-hand fight scenes, but on the other hand I applaud them for not expecting us to believe that people can become ninjas in a couple of weeks. The summer movie season has been good so far. The three I've seen deliver exactly what summer movies are supposed to: action and adrenalin-fueled entertainment.
