Today I sent MR Holmes (only posers go by Dr. ) a lengthy email detailing the similarities between Evelyn Waugh's Brideshead Revisited and Dominick Dunne's A Season in Purgatory, which we are discussing in class on Tuesday. This prompted an exchange about Waugh's other pithy novels and whether Jeremy Irons played Charles Ryder in the miniseries.
