I do like their stuff, but honestly I tend to like Z's voice better on the slower ballad-y type things like
The Daylight or their cover of
Famous Blue Raincoat And
Z was tweeting from New Orleans yesterday; it's like she knows the way to my heart. I know I'm harping a bit, but hear me out. Okay,
so Ryan and Z are pretty cute, I think we're agreed. But forget Ryan for a minute. What we have here is an all female, solidly bandom-adjacent band with a compelling origin story and possible angst over the fact that founding member Charlotte Froom left under what the speculation that I have read implies were not amicable circumstances, fronted by a gorgeous,
"wickedly funny," pretentious, hipster, control freak (and the other girls seem to be pretty good "characters" in their own right too). My God, we could have femslash about people who have an actual history together who we don't have to gender swap and who are all legit in a band so I don't have to feel (as much) like a creeper, hooray. Just think about it, is all I'm asking.
inlovewithnight has already assured me that I cannot make The Like femslash happen just by willing it into existence, but I'm just saying it is something worth pondering.

SPN: "The End"
See! The separation only lasted two episodes. Do not worry, fandom! It is going to be okay. I mean, Sam and Dean very well may die at the end, but if they do, they are going to do it together.
As
exsequar pointed out in her post, the spot where Sam and Dean reunite looks like the same place where they parted from John at the end of season one, which was really good symmetry. SPN has always been really good at the symmetry, and I love it when they nail it like that. I have all these narrative buttons about things like grace in darkness and impossible choices in impossible situations, and oh man, this episode hit all of them. Of course, Dean is never going to say yes to Michael. And of course Sam and Dean have to be together. I'm glad it was made very clear that Sam and Dean being apart wasn't going to fix anything because I never did understand Dean's logic about that. CLEARLY Sam is just as/probably more likely to turn evil when he's NOT with Dean as when he is. That the show was so explicitly aware of that was good and it made it clear that the annoying we-have=to=separate thing was stupid Dean=logic and not supposed to be actual=logic that we were supposed to believe. Because it really, really didn't make any sense at ALL.
I still am ambivalent about Dean also being special and a vessel, but whatever, I'll go with it. I enjoyed future!Castiel a lot.
So I haven't read any SPN fic in awhile, not gonna lie, but where is the quality Dean/Dean stuff? My (non-fannish, recently discovering fanfic) friend I was watching with took one look and said "I would read that." I assured him that it would exist by the next morning. Prove me right, fandom!

Victoria and Adrian Grenier are friends? Why didn't I know that? Why isn't there *fic* about that?
5. I just want to go catch up on the rest of this week's TV right now, but instead I am going to do all my postmodernism reading since I don't really intend to be all that functional tomorrow. I've been having entirely too much existential angst lately, and tonight I have plans to go out and drown it all in heavy drinking and poor decisions.
