As far as I can tell, the only possible upside of a hurricane evacuation (provided, of course, that the hurricane is a false alarm - otherwise there is no upside) is random visits from New Orleans friends.
aenelein and
hunterandprey showed up at 3:30 this morning from Birmingham with a trunk full of Abita beer and bottle of sake.
songgirl12 and
executorvs - I'm missing you guys fiercely, but it's great to see New Orleans faces. Everybody here is pretty fantastic, but I've been missing that NOLA attitude.
We did not drink the beer last night, but it is still very unfortunate that I have to go to work right now. At least their presence gives me an excuse to do the exploring of the touristy things I've been meaning to do. I only go to Georgetown and to Arlington and to Dupont Circle, like, twice. I love both those areas, but in theory there's stuff in this city.
