(no subject)
I am back in New Orleans! Last night I went to see Dr. John at House of Blues, which was awesome, then I drank entirely too much gin. Today I went by the old apartment to take the keys and do last minute cleaning, but our evil old landlady was already in there with the painters. So. Oh well. She thinks she's renting that place for over $2,000? There is no way that's happening.
Usually the time after Christmas is not my favorite time of year. It's still cold and winter, but it's not even festive anymore. It's just cold. But today when Sam and I went grocery shopping they already had all the Mardi Gras crap out. Mardi Gras is super early this year, but the season still doesn't start for another couple of weeks. I don't really care. It's my favorite holiday and I'll take it as early as they want to give it to me. songgirl12 and executorvs say I'm not allowed to buy king cake yet, though. Not until after January 6th. I bought king cake ice cream instead. Sam goes, "way to live by the letter of the law." Oh, yeah.
I have still been away from lj. I've skimmed my flist; I have read NO yuletide fic; I have read NO bandom fic. There is so much fic, I don't even know where to start. (Also: RPS fandoms happen *fast*. Blink and you miss ALL KINDS of interesting things.)

(That's all I've gotten so far, but I did move in the middle and while the change of address form is in, mail forwarding does tend to be spotty around here. We had no mail AT ALL at the old apartment and I hope that just means that none came for us while I was gone I wouldn't put cleaning out our mail box past the crazy landlady).
