In the years of his association with Sheldon Cooper, Leonard has learned to roll with the punches. Sheldon gets himself fired and turns to weaving ponchos and engineering bioluminescent fish? Leonard can cope. Sheldon is upset when Halo night starts fifteen minutes late and tries to ban everyone from the apartment? Just a typical Wednesday. Sheldon's offended because the Renaissance Fair isn't historically accurate? Please. Leonard had drawn up a basic list for dealing with his new roommate's anal-retentiveness three days after they moved in together.
On the whole, he feels that he's built up a certain immunity to Sheldon's peculiar brand of crazy. Things just don't surprise him anymore.
Until one day when, out of the blue, Sheldon brings up marriage.
If I had to pinpoint the author who honestly made me think that Sheldon and Penny could be in a relationship and not be totally out of character then it was damalur . Her Sheldon may have lost some his sharp edges, and Penny may grown up a little, but both Sheldon and Penny are believably and convincingly written. With hilarious cameo's by Raj and Howard this fic reads with as much humour and finesse as one of the best episodes penned by the series creators. The bulk of the story is in the two parts: A Day in the Life, and Life in a Nutshell, but my favourite part is probably The Role of a Lifetime, but that could just be because I secretly ship Penny/Career.
