My brother got married on Saturday. That's good.
I'm generally pretty content.
I think that somewhere in the 90's, people stopped singing. I've been going through a lot of albums, trying to reduce my playlist at work so that itunes isn't taking as much memory on my computer. I've noticed that most albums released between 1990ish and 2005 are just being deleted, especially if they're from artists that got their start in that time period.
My musical taste is influenced a lot by tones. I don't like singers who yell, shout, growl or mumble into the microphone - learn to actually sing already. Nor do I like the airy all-over-the-place tones that a lot of female singers adopted either. I don't like the bland strumming guitar tones that are a staple of post-grunge rock.
Maybe it's an extreme reaction to the other end of the spectrum - the crap put out through American Idol, and the overproduced pop acts. They all sound alike - no real tone that distinguishes one from another, but at least they're singing and not just droning on in monotones.
Fortunately, I've noticed some bands breaking away from this trend recently on the radio, and like a bit of it. I must make a point to pick something up from a band called Saving Abel (or something like that).
