Some hightlights of the opening ceremony. Not as much of the first part as I'd like to show you (they didn't have any of the on-field pyrotechnics or the cool boat-ocean-hammerhead scenes or much of the fireworks) but still a good idea of how neat it was.

The opening ceremonies for the Rugby World Cup 2011 are underway. I'm not into rugby but it's been fun to see the hype as people at work get excited, and the opening ceremonies are impressive. The 20-strong Maori wakas representing several Iwi (tribes) paddling into the harbour was neat. Waka are beautifully artistic, carved and painted with ( Read more... )
