Flowery Start to Our Holiday

Aug 11, 2014 20:28

We were supposed to go out of town for a few days & head to Taupo for some snowy weather & snowy mountain shots. The weather was going to start packing up today & get worse so we opted to stay home. If the front wasn't going to stay very long, or if we were going to be there longer we'd consider going down, but it was going to go from bad to worse by the time we were there & I didn't want to be driving in that, nor did I fancy -16C wind chills.

So today, instead of a long drive, we took a quick trip into Auckland city for some photos at the glass houses. We have taken photos there often & as they change out the displays it's nice to visit regularly. We got a little bit of sun this morning (it left by this afternoon & the wind picked up).

Here are the photos I took today. Enjoy!

This is one of the last photos I took. There is a fernery at the Auckland Domain, where there are different native plants & ferns.

There were some fancy lettuces & fancy kales used in one of the displays:

More under the cut 'cause there's 12 of them!

And quite a few orchids

And a few other things
