Wishing all of you a very Merry Christmas, Blessed Yule, Happy Hannukah and Happy Holidays. May your days be filled with light and may you know peace, joy and love this season. Thank you each for being part of my life this year and in past years. I might be quieter than usual but that doesn't mean I don't care, just that I'm trying to rope my life into some semblance of control.
Life has been ticking along as usual. I want to try to simplify and get back to more of the basics in the new year. I look at how I was 20 years ago and see how different I am now. Many things are good but I'd like to have time for people, to read and create and write. My letter writting has suffered in the last few months and as a result I haven't done many Christmas cards this year. I got a few out for a craft swap on
gotsnailmail but haven't managed to get more done. Thank you to those of you who have sent them on.
Things are going ok otherwise. The sales at Craftworld were half this year what they were last year which is dis apointing. Last year it helped pay rent for the booth over several slow months, this year we've covered rent for December with maybe a little actual profit. We ended up sticking up a 20% off sale for a few days to just try to get some sales and that didn't do well. I would say it was because people weren't spending but every time we went in it was busy and there was an article that purchases were up 2.6% on last Christmas in NZ so I think we need to look at what we have, the booth design and make some changes. Lessons learned and all that.
I haven't done any Viking knit necklaces for awhile. I was working on a piece I wanted to submit to the Parawire contest (closing 31/12) but it was an experimental weave and didn't work out. I have made a couple smaller pieces using the Viking Knit and beads or cameos. I have a woman who every year sponsors me for $100NZ for my Relay for Life. This year she blew me away by sponsoring me for $200. I am blessed to have someone who is consistantly sponsoring me for such large amounts and helping me raise money for the Cancer Society. I made a combined Christmas/thank you gift for her. This is a resin cameo and I've used the Viking Knit technique to turn it into a pendant.
I can't remember if I posted the octopus I did so here it is, only one image in case I did post it before.
