I checked in Monday morning and was talking with the HR person when she confirmed they wanted to contact me to set up a time for a interview. That interview was this morning at 11:00 am, I met with Alex who would be my boss, the senior system admin, and Matt who handles development.
The interview went pretty well, they seems like cool guys and I could see talking and working with them in the future. Fingers-crossed I went on home and back to "work".
Well at 5:00 pm I got a call back from the HR person asking for permission to contact my references. Considering how long the ad has been out, the length of the interview, the good vibes, the HR person calling at five to check with my references I think I have a shot. After all they don't bother checking references unless you are on a short list for the position.
So finger and toes crossed. While the position would be a reduction in pay and benefits from old job it is in town and wouldn't require significant move or commute. It would be a bit of a stretch for me and leaving behind windows skills to move higher into the Linux-sphere.
But I think it could be a good change. To be honest the old job was getting a little stale, and I was getting crispy from it. Not bad crispy just kinda bored, unchallenged, going-through-the-motions.
