Lets see - still dealing with low-grade sinus / cold crap. It's going on two weeks now. Not enough to really incapacitate me, just enough to really make me feel crappy in the mornings and most of the day. Gggggrrrrrrrrr
Despite the late notification I was able to get the makings and create some good food for our Thanksgiving feast with Rob, Shan, Eric and Lane. I made Roast Pork Loin with Cranberry and Orange glaze, Roasted Acorn Squash with butter, maple and brown sugar and a Pumpkin Cheesecake with gingersnap crust.
Microcenter found the point I would go out in the cold and dark on Black Friday a 22" LCD monitor for $149. This is Gina's Christmas present early. I woke up 4:00 am on Friday morning and even though I hadn't planned to get up that early, well I knew there was no point in going back to sleep. I got dressed and kissed a sleep Gina bye. Dressed warm, got the car out and got moving. Stopped to get some coffee and gas and drove on to Microcenter. I got there about 5:45 figuring there wouldn't be that many people there..... C'mon it's 5:45 am, its dark and cold and even though it was a great price there couldn't be THAT many people in the KC area looking for a inexpensive 22" monitor.....rrrriiiiighhhhtttt
YIKES! Pulling into the parking lot and seeing about 100 people standing in front of the doors. I got into line quickly and was damn glad I brought my coffee with me as it was COLD out there. (even for me)
Stood around and make small talk with folks, finally at 6:00 the line started moving. By then another 50 people had been added to the line. They were letting folks inside in lots of 30, to avoid a mad rush I assume. As I drew closer to the front there was a bit of a disturbance. Three youngish idiots that had been kind of wandering around, up and down the line, tried to cut in up in front. An older gent called them on it and management showed up with security and no-so-politely told them to go to the back of the line.
As soon as I got in the store I made a beeline for the monitors in the back. From what was left there had been a pyramid of 30-40 monitors and only half of it was left. I grabbed the one I was after and headed toward the front. I resisted all temptation to just look around and see what else was there. Finally got through check out and back into the car. I was home by 8:00 am with the tech-goodness in hand. Everything was unboxed, installed and fine-tuned by 9:00.
It's a pretty good monitor (especially for the price) the built-in speakers are a little tinny but livable (hell there were a bonus in the first place) Gina is very happy with it (Merry Christmas Beloved!) and that is one thing off the list.
Now waiting for My Christmas present - a new video card BFG Nvidia GForce8800GT to arrive :D
Also got the new scooter insured and tagged so all that is left is for me to get a helmet or two and a parking pass for KU and I will be set. (I know its kinda of silly to get a scooter when I know the weather is going to get crappy but the timing and price were just to good to pass on it. Besides its got hotrod flames - you cannot ignore the hotrod flames!)
