Been a busy week here but here is the news (such as it is)
(1) Avoided having to pay a ticket for defective equipment - turns out the problem with the taillights was a fuse. This car has the blade-type fuses with a little wire between the blades - the wire being melted means the fuse is bad. Simple right? Well not this time because the fuse in question the wire melted not in the middle but along one side where the plastic of the top comes down. Add that plus cold, pissed off, inexperienced, tired and bad lighting = I missed the bad fuse.
Our Auto shop fixed it and we took it into the police station and lucked out in that Gina worked some of her ex-dispatcher mojo and we got the same guy who looked at it last week. He huffed and gruffed a bit that we were over the 72 hours but eventually signed off on it.
Take ticket into the city court and bingo No more ticket - WOOT. With the money we didn't have to pay for the ticket we were able to get a futon mattress that we have been needed for a long time. Living room will now be able to comfortably seat 6 - 8 if they are chummy.
(2) Finances are going well - finally broke down and purchased the Quicken on Palm program. It's work to keep it all up to date but well worth it. I had a mild panic attack / freak out when Gina's City of Heroes account couldn't renew until I figured out it was on the NCsoft's billing server end NOT our account.
Work is keeping me hopping here - lots of stuff to be done it seems - DAMN freaking Daylight Savings Time change. *&%&$$**%$!! gotta patch a whole bunch of servers for this. I know and agree with the general aim of saving electricity and energy costs. But I have also read articles that question how effective this change will really be. Lets face it folks - we live in a near 24 x7 world now. We don't stop or start just because of what the sun is doing. The whole daylight saving thing was a crock from the start (look up the history and the REAL reason it came into play)
Heroes has continued to be a GREAT show. Had an idea on Zane's ability (Skylar's new ability) - the guy that melts things. I think what he is doing is somehow neutralizing the atomic bonds on all the carbon in the items he is touching. Without the carbon to hold it together - it melts and then reforms as the carbon atoms reattaches themselves to the surrounding materials.
Another question comes to play as in why is the Gaming official down there in the first place to let Hero out? Why flash his badge - after all he has never seen Hero? Why would Ando so easily be persuaded that Hero would just up and leave? (Aside of the obvious) After all just a few days ago Hero willing traded himself to "bad men" to try and save Ando.
Any bets that the person to die next week is Claire's mom - over use of the forgetting power the Haitian dude has?
good news,
heroes,
car,
finances
