But you are what you love, and not what loves you back

So you might have noticed that Obama didn't win Pennsylvania.  Over the past few weeks, I've put in countless hours making phone calls, organizing volunteer meetings, distributing literature, and knocking on doors.  I was disappointed, but not surprised, by Tuesday's results.  The good news is that Obama won my county and my precinct by a large margin, second only to his performance in Philadelphia.  I won't crunch all the numbers here about delegates and congressional districts (I already did this as a reply to Ryan's post, which I'm sure he was thrilled to read all about!!!), but all the hard work that my team put in definitely made a difference overall.  Considering that Obama began campaigning here trailing Clinton by 20 points, he made up a lot of ground in a relatively short period of time with an electorate that is made up largely of white, blue-collar workers, gun toters, and senior citizens.  I don't think Hillary's single-digit win has done much to help her credibility.

Although I'm happy to have more free time, I'll miss all my fellow Obama staffers and volunteers with whom I've been working so closely.  I think the best part of the experience was getting to know so many like-minded, motivated people... Although I suspect that we may reunite in September in preparation for the general election (if all goes as planned).

Now that I have a large chunk of my life back, I can actually reacquaint myself with the livejournal community.  The biggest news that's happened relatively recently is that I have a job lined up starting July 1.  I'll be an itinerant speech/language pathologist working with preschoolers across the county next to mine.  The commute isn't ideal, but it's manageable, and the salary and benefits are decent.  It will be nice to actually get paid for doing basically what I'm already doing.  I feel like I am becoming, more and more, a "real" person and a contributing member of society.  Imagine that.

Other major life events include planning the wedding and getting ready to move mid-July.  Lots of change all at once!  I'm pretty impressed with myself that there have been no major meltdowns or panic attacks.  I'm actually really excited about starting a new chapter in my life.
