To those in nyc on 9/11/01, remember when they talked about the bombs on the GW bridge and the Mall being on fire (to those non-washingtonians, the Mall is the touristy area of DC with the Washington Monument, etc)? I only watched the news during the morning before being bused around, but I remember those reports so vividly. It only took that one little lie, told once, and that quickly the image was burned into my mind. It was an imagined image yet no less effective - I was scared, for my family, my friends back home, and for me, but now I've got a much better reason to be scared, but I think we'll have to save that conversation for another day. Chew on that though, a tiny lie that I heard only once spurred on seriously dangerous feelings that I have yet to completely shed off...how might have you been similarly affected? How are we still affected, especially by bigger and more perpetuated lies?
