Trip to Abbott Diagnostics in Dallas

So, last week I went on a trip to Dallas, TX to attend a meeting hosted by Abbott Diagnostics on the topic of hematology and how best to use their new hematology analyzer. The basic expenses (plane, hotel, and some food costs) were paid by Abbott and the hospital where I work. So I was rather surprised that the hospital picked me - the new employee - as a person to go.
I was delayed about six hours traveling from Arizona to Texas last Sunday. And therefore, I was really out of it at the Abbott training center on Monday. But other than that, it was a good trip. We learned many things about the Cell Dyne Ruby blood analyzer that we might not have figured out on our own. And I was given a whopping 33 continuing education credits (these are credits that must be collected to maintain one's medical laboratory technician certification).
Just one piece of advice for those who visit Dallas, TX... Don't ever dine at the Old Hickory Steakhouse unless you're willing to pay and arm and a leg. What you get when you order an entree is a plate of meat and nothing else. Sides, salads... everything is an extra cost:
