Dear Yuletide Author (2018)
Dear lovely, lovely author,
Hi!! So first thing's first: I'm a rambler and I tried to keep it short but ... Ya. As usual, I'd like to say that optional details are optional, so please feel free to do your thing and don't feel pressured whatsoever by my scrawling thoughts and musings. These are merely ideas, and you are wonderful!! My feelings for general likes et al haven't changed much the past few years, so it's mostly the same as my last couple Yuletides, though I wasn't able to play last year, and of course expect I will be matched with someone new, so here we go!
General Likes/Dislikes
Do Not Want:
I absolutely do not want any noncon, abuse, suicide, extended torture, super relentlessly dark fic. I don't enjoy slash or implied slash as a main theme, horror/gore, kinky sex, threesomes/moresomes, mpreg, cross generational ships. I prefer not to receive pure smut/PWP as I'm very picky about the smut I read (BUT if it contained some PG-13/light R vanilla sexytimes that is A-OK).
I would rather not recieve high school/college AUs, rock band AUs, deaged fic, kid fic, fics focused on kids/pregnancy - just not interesting to me!
NOW THE GOOD STUFF...!
Likes:
I adore unexpected/reluctant broships, sass & snark & sarcasm, gen fic, UST with a payoff, angst, fluff, witty banter, flirting. TIME TRAVEL ANYTHING - Groundhog Day AUs, time loop shenanigans, oops woke up in the wrong decade, and hand-wavey science/magic to do it, whatever. I'm in.
I am down for het shippy fic as much as I am gen fic. If it's shippy, I prefer flirting and falling in love over established relationship, but I'm also totally happy getting good established relationship stuff too (ex. food fights, sleepy Sundays, slice of life). I'll take any genre (except horror), including hurt/comfort, action/spy/heist, apocafic, pranks & shenanigans, slow burn, 5+1. Making light fandoms dark or dark fandoms light.
I'm totally cool with tropes! I am especially obsessed with enemies to lovers lately, but also very much enjoy best friends to lovers, there's only one bed, fake dating/married (esp if they're enemies to lovers AS WELL - oh bread and BUTTER), we both are here to kill the same person oops, accidentally in love, found family, protective characters, I hate you stop saving my life.
And I'm super down for crossovers (with fandoms I know - see my tumblr for ideas) and AUs! Like, assassins/thieves/spies, fairytale, coffeeshop, 40s detective/noir, Supernatural (monster hunters) being some particular favs. I'm totally good with fusions.
tl;dr: unexpected/reluctant broships, sass, time travel, angst + humor/banter, yes to tropes (enemies to lovers!!), yes to shippy or gen.
Fandom Specific
(Note for all: non-canon scenarios just as welcome as canon scenarios, as long as nothing is OOC. :D)
Better Off Ted: I add this to my requests every year because this show is GOLD and the world really, really needs more fic for it. ;D I would happy to get any fic for any of the characters in the tagset this year - Ted, Veronica, Lem, Phil - in any combo of friendship and situational humor, and with or without Linda in the mix too. I ship Ted/Linda and Ted/Veronica but enjoy them all plantonically as well. Any side Better Off Ted characters (ie. Dr. Bhamba, Lucy, etc) are welcome to crop up. I would love to see anything that's quirky like the show here - misunderstandings and sitcom tropes, something Veridian institutes going very wrong (the new slushie machine is the new Skynet? Veridian wants a man-eating plant until it's literally eating men? They really did weaponize that pumpkin? Veridian's artificial red dye #2346 is turning everyone lterally red?), pranks & shenanigans, humor, banter. How about some accidental fake dating between Linda and Ted? Or the yearly company retreat happens and there's only one bed? Or how about the yearly company retreat is camping out in the bush this year and none of them can handle or cope with that (or maybe one of them can, shocking everybody else)? Honestly, anything you can come up with will bring me joy. :D This show is vastly underrated and the world neeeeds more fic!!
Happy Endings: Another one I ask for every time, just because this show is SO GREAT and deserves all the love, too. I adore the humor on this show. I love all of the characters so I am totally down with seeing any of them in any combination - top favs are Dave, Penny, Jane. I ship Dave/Penny the most. Penny's guy-of-the-week stuff is endlessly funny, as is the roommate shenanigans that go on with Dave and Max (and Brad). I would to see any number of typical sitcom tropes/situational nonsense involving any/all, especially if it involves Penny and Dave in any shippy scenario! (I love them platonically as well, so feel free to do gen here too). Basically any form of pranks & shenanigans, misunderstandings, sitcommy tropes, best friends to lovers, accidentally in love, etc. Also so very down with doing something unexpectedly dark, angsty, apocalyptic, uncommon/non-canon pair, whatever (as long as a slice of banter/show typical hilarity remains in some form).
Revenge: I'm very intrigued by the fact that tagset this year only includes Emily and Daniel, and there are so many ways this could go that I'd be interested in seeing. What if she told him the truth early on? What if she told him while they were together? What if That Night wnet differently? What if he helped her? What if he turned into a bigger villain than his mother? What if he made it to the end and rode off into the sunset with her OR what if he made it to the end and fought her to the death?! Or maybe something totally AU, where they're in space or the 20's or the Victorian era. What if she's an assassin and he's an art thief? What if he was in her place and her in his? In terms of other characters who may or may not appear, my favs are Emily, Nolan, and Aiden. I enjoyed Victoria, Daniel, Conrad, Louise, Ben. Jack is all right but not as interesting to me as the others (same with Margeaux and David Clarke). Not a big fan of Charlotte, Declan, and Amanda. Hated Tyler and Ashley - keep them 1000% away. I ship Emily/Aiden, Emily/Nolan, Louise/Nolan, Emily/Daniel. I am up for pretty much anything you feel like doing in this fandom!! Light/humor, dark, angst, any genre, shippy, gen, AU, etc. '
Honestly, as usual, there were so many fandoms I wanted to choose from this year but I decided to narrow it down and see what happens, so here we are. :D Please feel free to combine, swap, etc, any of the prompts and ideas above!
