One more note to my party

Nov 05, 2010 10:05

Today I am a registered Repubican. I am not however a proud Republican. I fear the party with whom I am registered sold its soul to the Tea Party for a victory in this election. Make no bones about it, if the Republicans do not cleave right, towards the Tea Party's hard line ideological positions, they have threated to come after you just as they went after the Dems. If so, the republicans become less of a party able to govern, and more of an ideology, a religion of the most conservative concepts, and as such unable to compromise and accomodate. The Republican party will have become the Taliban, scourging the unpure in thought and deed.
You know, the Republican Party is not as old as the Republic. Abraham Lincoln was the first President elected by the Republican Party, which was a succession of the Whig party, and the Northern industrialists and the new politcal power of the Northwest (Now called the Mid-West). The Republican Party doesn't have to last forever, and perhaps out of its ashes will rise an new party, an American party, dedicated to the idea that personal responsibility is just that, personal and responsible. Those liberals in the Democratic party can have their "feel good, government is mommy and daddy, but those Dems on the right side of their party, can also embrace the idea that personal responsibility is personal and responsible and not tied up in religion, or race, or orgin. After, on this continent, we are all emigrants.

just saying.
