I have annual leave between 10 - 18 Jan and a partner without a passport who wants to go somewhere special for a holiday.
Current candidates are Brisbane (her idea, largely based on a previous visit and the ease of a side trip to Cairns to visit one of her friends after I go back to work)
or
The South-West of WA, especially the Margaret River area with some time in Perth so I can catch up with friends and do the family thing....
So what's good in Brisbane? - When I was last in Brisbane I took on food and water and kept riding.
If we decide to go to WA, a likely itinerary will involve:
- Flying out of Melb around 10am on Sat 10 Jan - Arriving in Perth around 3pm.
- Booking into the Old Melbourne hotel (L saw it on the internet and thought it was nice, I like the irony of doing the whole nice hotel thing at The Firm)
- Running around like a headless chook on Sat afternoon because your city shuts down at 5pm and doesn't reopen till Monday.
- Catching up with old mates on Saturday evening (Is there any Dominion/Sin happenings on the 10th? - Where do the cool kids hang in Perth these days?)
- Visiting Mum, sister, brother-in-law and their kids in south-of-the-river suburbia on Sunday.
- Rent a Getz first thing Monday morning and driving to Dad and his wife for lunch in south eastern semi-rural suburban fringe. Keep driving south (possibly getting as far as Bunbury by the evening.
A big blank period between for the week were we have a car, desire to do the nice hotel/resort thing and see the best bits of the south west of WA. - Suggestions welcome.
Saturday 17 Jan - back in Perth for catch up with friends.
Sunday 18 Jan - Pack and get on flight leaving Perth around midday so we can be back in Melbourne in the late afternoon / early evening.
