Yesterday, I was revising this job announcement for a classification called Community Outreach Worker that was due for posting like immediately. First understand that it’s the standard rule of the agency to "try" and fit the text of our job announcements to an 8 1/2 x 14 paper and no more. It is also our rule that our hard copy job announcement should be an exact duplicate of our online job announcements.
So I was trying to fit the text that was originally drafted by another recruiter into one page. In an attempt to create more space, I shortened the classification title and used its acronym. I realized after I released and posted the job announcement that portions of my position description reads:
"With supervision, COWs are responsible for conducting workshops with members of the community and conducting door-to-door campaigns on voter registration. COWs will receive on-the-job training on civic engagement..."
As if it’s not enough that they get milked every day and slaughtered even, I now have cows conducting door-to-door campaigns! MOOOO!
