Today is September 11th. I was up early this morning to make sure I made it to the Memorial Service in front of the Lowe Library. We had bells, lists, and speeches. The most impacting to me though was the NYPD officer who read the epitaph that was being read to every single police officer in the city that day. It should have been read to every person in the country. I can't remember exactly what it said, but at that point, I lost it and started crying. The lady in front of me had been crying the entire time. With the NYPD and the lady, I just straight lost it.
Well, Michelle just came on the radio. I still get all somber when I hear this song. Crystal and I would just belt it out at work... and in the car... and in a restaraunt. We hearted this song. "You're my... shooting star." haha. Awe, home.
I had an exciting English class. It seemed like the students did more talking that the professor which was a nice change from all of my other lecture classes. I got an A on my Italian quiz, word. Since today is my easy day, I was finished at 1:30pm and hit the dorm for some... heavy.. hah. I did my laundry and learned that there was an awesome-sounding memorial in Central Park. So, I talked Sarah into going to it with me.. more on that later tho.
I need to mention Gideon. heh. So, I am walking across Broadway to go to Hamilton to my Italian class and I notice a camera crew. I saw one this morning so I really didn't think much of it. One of the little camera bros asked me where I was from, and I said, Indiana. Suddenly, Gideon Yago.. yup.. frmr. promoter of geek glasses, turned around and asked me if I would 'answer a few questions.' Apparantly, I was a hot commodity being from 'da sticks and all. I had to peace on him tho cos I had class... you know. Pfft. Too bad tonight at the memorial service I was the star of some ladies photographs. Psh! I just have that LOOK. word.
All right, so we got on the train around a quarter till 7. We were thinking that we'd have plenty of time to get there since the thing wasn't starting for another hour and 15 minutes. OH. We musta been buzzin cos the place was packed... try... 40,000 people packed. So, after trying to get somewhere near the Great Lawn.. we decided we might as well go back to campus and try to participate in that memorial. So, we got back on the train around 8:30 after listening to Billy for a little while. We got back just in time for the Columbia memorial to start. My candle kept burning until, yep, I set myself on fire. Well, my hand. But, my roommate is like, "Um.. hun.. your candle is on fire." And, of course, I'm like, "guh! good one!" Then I look down and the little wax catcher is a big ball of flame.. of course, that flame has penetrated my hand. I'm ok, now. I threw the candle on the ground and almost set the girl's sweater in front of me on fire. It's ok tho. I let her know what was up and she moved. Can't be having any of that can we !
So, now I must begin my journey in JAVA programming. Wish me luck. I will need it.
