Plus a mini Japanese lesson for die hard fans out there :)
Bleh, all guardians love singing about the sky in at least one line of their character songs (Tsuna, you are so loved >:( dammit!) but hey, this particular album is called Horizon, even, so allow me to fangirl at least a little bit kthx!
I've found a couple of translations for Horizon, but I'm not satisfied with how they're done. So I wrote my own translation of the song. I hope I managed to provide a clear translation that flows more naturally in normal English. My imagination is extreme at times, but for the sake of fangirlism and fangasm, let's dissect Hibari's character song, Horizon for touching 1827 loveliness :) And nooooo. This is not an excuse for a songfic P
*note that in songs (and in most slangs, at least in ones that I'm familiar with), [teru] and [teiru] means the same.Feel free to read this Japanese research by Toru Takagi entitled [Word Use Change in Japanese Popular Songs: From "Teiru" to "Teru"]
HERE for clarification's sake.
01
I grasp the rising sun peeking through the clouds with these hands.
Beyond this endless horizon,
Someone is waiting.
Something is waiting.
*Can also be translated as 'Who's waiting?' and 'What's waiting' since Hibari is a guy, and guys ask questions this way in colloquial Japanese.
The Verdict:
It kind of sounds like Hibari is being impatient with the sun rising slowly in the sky. He wants to move forward as soon as possible because somewhere beyond the horizon, there is something or rather someone waiting for him. In a fangirl's persepctive, this is TYL!HIbari's haste in wanting to see TYL!Tsuna's outrageous plan. Once it ends, Tsuna will be there waiting for everyone again, very much alive.

On days where battles go on, what I keep winning, I keep losing them again.
After the heart is laden with fangs, I wonder if what I seek will be found.
*do not mistake 'mitsukaru' (intransitive verb) for mitsukeru' (transitive verb)!
The Verdict:
You know, people say you don't really win in battles. It's like karma. You take something from someone, someone else takes something from you. The battles with Millefiore go on, and Hibari keeps his winning streak, but he still loses coughTsunacough to the plan. Fine, Tsuna may not be dead, but he's still not there with them. To everyone else, Tsuna's dead. In alternate worlds, they all died and Byakuran triumphs. If they screw up in this future, Tsuna will probably die for real and all of them will as well. All this dilemma may slowly scratches and tries to peel at his heart, little by little.
Fighting on in battles without the sky, with him lying cold in a coffin somewhere, surely you'd feel the strain. What does Hibari seek?
Triumph over Millefiore. Will Tsuna be there for them for him when they all win? If they fail, what will happen?

I don't know the words tied to a frightened being and whatnot
The life that is destined to fall apart,
I'll see to it with my own eyes that it does.
I'll erase it's existence
right now, even, just as you wish.
The Verdict:
Hibari does not care about the words spoken by someone who's afraid. Tsuna, even TYL, must still be Tsuna. He fears for the fate of his family. He fears the outcome of the war. Well, kind Tsuna fears practically everything (he thinks too much! Gokudera is right. While he seems shallow, he's rather deep *_* ,<- I didn't want to admit this, lol XD). Hibari doesn't care if Tsuna (perhaps) fear for Hibari's life during the war. Millefiore is an organisation needed to be defeated, needed to break apart. Hibari will charge without fear. He will face enemies, even walk into their base nonchalantly (think Melone Base ;)) so that he can have the satisfaction of bringing them all down. It's like saying "You wish to see Millefiore destroyed, Tsunayoshi. Therefore I will destroy them as you wish. I'll do no less than that."
That is just so, so Hibari.

I'll bite you to death.
Everything that stands in my ideals, be destroyed.
That's right, no one can stop me.
Anyone who sets my heart ablaze from within, shatter to pieces.
That's right, I won't let you do as you please.
*Pfft. Kowashite, Kirisaite.... The next you know, he's going to channel Byakuya and add in 'Chire' as well :P
The Verdict:
It's how Hibari lives. You stand in my way, I bite you to death. You interfere, I bite you to death. You make me angry, annoyed, irritated, I bite you to death. You make my heart burn with anger, jealousy, sadness (that I won't admit, of course!), I bite you to death.
You make me love you and worried for you, I bite you to death ♥
This is the basis of 1827 seen by many eyes. Hibari's curiousity, his interest in Tsuna whom he cannot ascertain Tsuna's strengths and weaknesses (which is why he always tells Tsuna "You're interesting after all"), this is just one of the few strings that binds him to Tsuna.

On the sky I see from the rooftop, layers of stained shades of blue are piling up.
In this heart that embraced solitude,
it's very similar. It's like floating in the air
The quiet blue beyond the infinity
The Verdict:
Welcome to the world of stalker!Hibari who watches Tsuna like a cute skylark hawk from the rooftop of every place :P
Haha, kidding~ You see, in Reborn! character songs, they have an extremem overuse of 'the sky', but the fact that this album is called Horizon is just that - the sky. Anime-verse Hibari appears in every place where there's Tsuna, it's not even funny :P Hibari in both manga and anime spends his time on rooftops, sleeping or just staring at the sky (and whatever else, who knows). He's probably the only one in the entire Reborn! universe who spends so many time with the sky.
Comparing the sky to his heart (reference to his first song, Hitoribocchi no Sadame, people!!) and his feelings... You finish the sentence :)

Everything that interrupts my field of vision, I'll shake them all off.
That's right, no one can rival me.
Shatter to pieces. I won't be bound by whatever reason.
That's right, there's no way I'd be manipulated.
* ふりほどく (furihodoku) is a common transitive verb that can be hard to translate sometimes. Most dictionaries won't tell you this, but some grammar books will. Don't separate them into furi and hodoku. It will mean something else entirely.
Essentially, 'furihodoku' means 'to shake sth/someone off'. But if you say "FURIHODOKU YO!", it will be equivalent to "I'LL GET YOU!!", just like "Ushiro kara furihodoku" means "To get (someone) from behind (sneakily)".
The Verdict:
Hello angst and denial~
In the first two lines, it's just his recklessness and overconfidence again. Hibari is so obsessed with 'being the strongest', isn't he? It's always interesting to note that Hibari is referred to as 'the strongest in Vongola' instead of just the strongest guardian as one would normally put it. What about Tsuna, really??
The last two lines is just like Hibari telling everyone else "Shut the fuck up and die. I don't do this for Vongola or Sawada Tsunayoshi. Like they can tell me what to do, hmph".
Yes, yes, you bestowed the Vongola Trial on an underage and unprepared kid because you're so desperate to see the boy get stronger so that the whole plan would be put to end ASAP, all out of your own free will. Or not. If you don't care, surely you'd just walk away. Hurrr...
REPEAT #04
So yes, that's the end of my fangirl dissection of his song. Call it a sudden diarhoe of the typing fingers. The length of this entry is almost like me writing a mini ship manifesto of some kind.
Feel free to make your own ;)
---------------------------------------------------------------- End of LJ-Cut and random song analysis vs. pairing of doom~. Normal LJ entry below :D
Pfft. That was rather long *__*
I'm still working on my doujin albeit at a very leisurely pace. I mean it. Very, very leisurely. I found a very reasonable printing company with wonderful staff, so my mind is at ease. I don't have to rush since it won't be printed until February :3
Anyway, a small art spam (again XD):
Until later ♥
p.s/ I found the kataomoi geass anthology my old circle participated in last year sold out @ mandarake and laughed like hell. I still can't believe what we did there :P Lol, Kanon, lol XD
