It's the love that makes the house; not the house that makes the love.

We have been discussing lodging plans above wedding plans for a long time now because housing is really an issue when we each have five or more people living in the house. As the typical young, motivated, against-all-financial-odds duo, we thought it was a great idea to purchase his parents' flat since they had their own plans of moving too. The flat is every imaginable description you would find on an advertisement- 3 minutes' walk to the MRT station and shopping centre, located in the heartlands, a great place to raise a family etc. So we thought applying for a BTO would be out of the question since the BTO paled in comparison to the already developed estate and the idea here was to have our own roof over the head as quickly as possible. (Have I mentioned how insanely oversubscribed BTOs are?!?)

All was well until we realised we couldn't afford the flat. It was heartbreaking (as heartbreaking as seeing friends getting engaged/married) turned silly. I always joked about how if he was with someone who was already working he wouldn't be stuck like this on no man's land. haha. Of course, he wouldn't give me the satisfaction of hearing, "But it wouldn't be the same without you". HAHA.

Well, if I had started working already and had contributed to the CPF, we could probably have been able to afford it already. So as of this moment, we have decided to apply for a BTO, which is definitely cheaper than a resale flat. Although it will be relatively small, it will only be the two of us, how big do we want it to be? I know people who live in big houses who are lonely, and sad. This is the most cheesy thing I'm going to say tonight, but it really doesn't matter where we live as long as we're together.

And it doesn't matter if the house only has one bathroom, 'cause he'd BETTER let me go first. Kiddin', honey. (Not.)
