Well this weekend is going to be a good one. It started off with a bang yesterday with the running of the "Gauntlet." The Gauntlet for those of you that are unaware of what it is was initially believed to be a modest 7.5 miles ended up being much closer to 8 miles. It was quite a feat, one with much enjoyment. Highlights included blind running, Jeremy's short shorts, a catcall at Jeremy, and a vicious attack on Jeremy by a tree branch. What a time it was indeed. I was proud of the boys for putting in such a courageous effort. I was pleasantly surprised by my conditioning and pace that I kept, pleased indeed. It was one for the ages, but only the opening chapter of many more treks in the future.
Today was quite an eventful day. Had classes and then after in order to avoid some unnecessary walking I decided to take a different shuttle. The plan was to meet Jeremy closer to Target to avoid some walking. So I got on the shuttle going to Lexington. Such a great idea that I couldn't believe that I hadn't thought of it sooner...only one problem. The place I was going to was not what I expected. I arrived at Lexington alright only it wasn't where I had expected. The bus driver stopped and the remaining passengers got off and she said, "Where are you going?" To which I replied, "Lexington." She quickly answered, "This is Lexington." I returned with a brilliant reply, "It is?" She replied, "Yes...where did you need to go?" Lexington I thought. I replied, "Well I needed to go to Target." She answered, "Well I think you were thinking of Union Square." Ahh yes Union Square, oh how stupid I felt. So I proceeded in getting off the shuttle and looked around to see exactly where I was. I was a hefty 2 or 3 miles away from Target. I thought to myself, "Crap, I am so tired from the Gauntlet, I can't take this." But I sucked it up and marched on to Target where Jeremy had been waiting for me. I managed to gather a number of items from their and move on to the early finale to this stage of the day with another couple of mile walk back to the apartment.
A little after 3, Tony and I ventured to the local film theater to view the recently released comedy, Borat. It was quite the laugh. Definitely not the best comedy ever as some of the critics have stated, but certainly a good laugh. At some points there were some pretty tasteless moments, warranting the attention and controversy, but I think that people just need to realize that it is all fiction and only a film.
Currently it's about 5:30. I'm planning to eat some dinner and prepare for a battle between two mighty rivals in MAC. The crucial and what is being referred to as the biggest game in CMU football history since 1983. CMU is facing off against Western, who are the biggest rivals of the Chips. With a win, it will pretty much clinch the Divisional Championship in the MAC and a spot in the MAC Championship game. The fact of the matter is that with a win it will also secure a bowl birth, which to say the least would be brilliant and exciting for the university. So to say the least I am psyched about the game tonight. Should be a cold one tonight, but with the proper apparel it should still be exciting. Fire up Chips!
Well I say goodbye for now, possibility of a more intellectual entry later tonight, otherwise you can expect one tomorrow. Love you all.
