So terribly sorry for this so very old log. This was dated back almost a year ago and I have no real excuse for my negligence in posting it than the mere fact I actually forgotten about it.

The sky was bright blue and yet the weather was not too hot or humid. The sun shone delightfully, yet the white clouds offered their help in blocking the too intense light from the world, making the day perfect for a picnic or a walk in the park.

Dino Cavallone chose the first option. He sat on a spread blanket, under a big willow tree, and was having a small picnic -- complete with the sandwiches, tea, cookies and cakes -- with his beloved fiancé in the Cavallone Mansion’s garden.

Hazel eyes moved to gaze at the Japanese man who was sitting beside their owner, his back leaning against the big tree, with a peaceful expression on his face. At the moment, Dino felt really content.

It was, Kyouya had to admit, a lovely day. The weather was wonderful, and deep in the gardens he could almost forget the amount of people buzzling about on the mansion grounds. It was just Dino and Kyouya himself, enjoying the warm sunlight that was being filtered through the leaves in the garden. He wasn't even too tired and aching to enjoy the moment for once, thanks to a long nap outside earlier and some good painkillers. All in all, he was on a good mood.

For once, the twitch at Kyouya's lips was closer to a smile than a smirk.

Seeing the faint smile on Kyouya’s face made Dino’s chest warm with happiness. His lover looked slightly out of place in the mansion, when being surrounded by Dino’s men who were mostly Italian, but here in the garden, he looked... exquisite. Like a painting that no ordinary people could see.

Closing his eyes briefly, Dino allowed a small, faint smile to appear on his face. Kyouya looked and felt so right being there, in the Cavallone garden, and the man looked so peaceful Dino was almost sure this place could be counted as one of Kyouya’s favorites. Still, Dino was not in any delusion that the younger man would call this -- the garden, the mansion -- as his home yet and he couldn’t help but wondering if the time when Kyouya’d admit this as his home would ever come.

A small sigh escaped from Dino’s lips unconsciously.

"Hmm?" Kyouya glanced at Dino even as he reached out for a small sandwich. "Something the matter?"

Kyouya’s voice almost startled Dino. “What? Oh, nothing. What made you asked that?” he didn’t realize the sigh.

"You were sighing." Kyouya started picking the sandwich into smaller pieces, putting them in his mouth one by one.

“I was?” Dino blinked. “I didn’t realize it. Heh, must be too deep in thought.” he continued in a murmur.

"Oh?" Kyouya leant his head back against the tree, destroying his sandwich little by little. "That still doesn't answer my question."

“Yes, sorry.” Dino chuckled. “I was... wondering, actually. About you.” Yes, he was taking his time answering.

"Wondering about me?" Kyouya raised his eyebrows. "And here I was thinking you'd already realized you will never understand me."

“Realizing that doesn’t mean I’ll ever stop wondering about you, Kyouya.” the blond man smiled. “I was wondering... whether you’ll ever call this mansion as your home or not.” and, by doing that, finally accepting the Cavallone -- Dino -- as his family.

Kyouya paused, now. That was... not something he had ever really considered. After all, the times he had been here had carried the air of a temporary visit more than anything. It had always been Dino's home, not his.

But Dino was his fiancé, wasn't he? And one day, perhaps, if the laws became more allowing, his husband.

His husband. That was... not an unpleasant thought.

"Perhaps," he said at last. "It's not the same as Namimori, though."

Dino’s attention was solely on Kyouya now. “Really?” He never had any delusion anything would ever beat Namimori’s position in Kyouya’s heart.

"It is your home," Kyouya pointed out. "Furthermore, your Famiglia is here. If we ever are to live together outside the university, it will be here. It is all fine and good for me to be regarded as a guest when we are here a few weeks at a time at most, but if this ever becomes my main place of residence, it would be quite strange to claim I am just visiting."

“Will you think of it as your home, though? As a place you’d go to after you’re tired of flying and spreading your wings in the wide blue sky? As a place where you could feel safe and comfortable to rest? As a place where you’d find warmth?”

"That would depend on whether your men will ever stop looking at me like I'm some strange thing they have to keep their eye on." Kyouya's lips twitched before he turned his gaze up to the green leaves.

"Let's put it this way," he murmured, a quiet tone to his voice. "I would imagine, some time in the future... that I would see this mansion as a place where I have someone to come home to."

Dino was quiet for a second before a big smile appeared on his face. Slowly at first and then turned into a full on beaming grin after he heard Kyouya’s answer. “You- wouldn’t even know how happy I am at the moment, Kyouya.”

"I can imagine," Kyouya snorted, glancing at him. "Your face is about to split in two. Now why are you so very enthusiastic about this?"

A free laugh escaped from Dino’s lips and he shook his head softly before leaning back on the tree. “Why? You said you’ll come home to me, Kyouya. That’s- that’s just- wow.”

Sometimes, Kyouya couldn't understand Dino at all. "And? It's not like I have anyone else."

Dino smiled. He could understand Kyouya’s confusion. ...Somewhat. “You are a free skylark, Kyouya. I’ve known and accepted that fact. That’s why, I’d never even dream that you’d be mine. Completely. Because you’re no one’s but yours only. Since I couldn’t claim you as mine, though, I’ve always wanted to be... something different.”

“Even a free bird needs a nest to come home to. I’ve always been wanting to be that nest and hearing you said that you’d come home to me... Well, I felt like my wish has finally came true.”

"Sappy herbivore." Kyouya leant his head lightly against Dino's shoulder. "I hope you realize that would mean you are also the first one to bear my annoyance whenever I get back from a long, tiring mission that did not go all according to plan."

A kiss was bestowed to Kyouya’s head when he leant against Dino. “I won’t mind. I’d say no one else could bear your annoyance better than me by now.”

"Masochist." Another snort. "You must have fallen over and hit your head one time too many as a kid."

Sigh. “Trust me, you’re not the first person who had called me a masochist.” he commented wryly.

"Oh? Who was the first?" Just a bit of idle curiousity. "And what was the occasion?"

“Squalo.” Dino murmured, remembering the day. “When I was still in the same school with him. It was because... Oh, because I still insisted on being his friends despite his tendency of abusing and hitting me over and over again.”

"Careful. I might get jealous."

“Jealous? Of Squalo?” The statement made Dino blinked before he laughed, lightly. “Oh, you don’t have to, Kyouya. Nothing romantic will ever happen between him and I.”

"Your description of your relationship sounds an awful lot like ours."

“...Does it?”

"Your insisting on a close relationship with someone who has a habit of causing you physical pain? Oh, yes." Granted, their violent encounters were usually sparring, but then he didn't know what the circumstances had been surrounding Dino's situation with Squalo.

“Uh,” Dino scratched his head in sheepish manner. “I guess I really was attracted to people who could hurt me, huh?” A pause. “Wait, that didn’t sound right! It was not the only reason I insisted on being friend with Squalo, though. Besides, he was the one who thought I was a masochist.”

"Or so you say." Kyouya chuckled. "I guess I will forgive you for such tendencies, though. After all," a small smirk, now, "I'm the one who put a ring on your finger." Why, yes, possessive.

“Why, thank you, Kyouya.” Dino chuckled sheepishly. “I assure you, I’ll never cheat on you. I still want to live and, besides, you’re also the one whom I gave a ring to.”

"Good." Kyouya's hand brushed idly against Dino's arm. "I would hate to have to kill the one I've sworn to protect."

Dino shivered, half because of Kyouya's words and half because of the light brush against his arm. "Thank God I'm smart enough to not ever do that by now."

"I would hope by now you would avoid it out of loyalty rather than fear."

"Of course! Besides, I've told you that no one really attracts me anymore after I've gotten you, right?" Dino pouted. "I'm serious about that, Kyouya."

"I do believe you, silly herbivore." Kyouya chuckled faintly. "I would not be here if I didn't."

The blond man didn't comment anything, simply holding Kyouya a little bit tighter, although he still minded the man's injuries. "Ti amo, Kyouya."

"...I know." The most he could manage to say back.

Enough clarification for Dino. The blond kissed Kyouya’s head and then his forehead, overwhelmed with love for this man it almost scared him.

"Sappy." Kyouya made to reach for another sandwich, then winced as doing so pulled at his back just the wrong way.

The wince was noticed by Dino, of course, and the man immediately let go of Kyouya in worry. “Are you alright?”

"As much as one would expect," Kyouya murmured, sinking back against the tree. "Give me another salmon sandwich."

Dino almost immediately reached out for the salmon sandwich even though his attention was still on Kyouya. “Do you want another painkiller?”

"I'd rather not take too many," Kyouya said. "It doesn't hurt if I don't move in the wrong ways. I'm all right."

“Are you sure?” There was still a worry tone in Dino’s voice even though he should be convinced. This was Kyouya. He wouldn’t say something that wasn’t true.

"I took one just before this little picnic. Yes, I'm sure. Taking one now would go over the recommended dosage."

“It might be alright if we decrease the dosage...”

"I told you, it doesn't hurt if I don't move wrong."

Dino opened his mouth again, but shut it soon after. “Alright. If you’re sure.” he said finally.

Kyouya sighed. "Honestly, Cavallone. I'm not in pain at the moment. I just reached the wrong way."

“Okay. Sorry for overreacting.” Dino murmured. “I just- can’t help it.”

"Give me the sandwich and I might forgive you for now."

“Ah, sorry!” he didn’t even realize he hadn’t given the sandwich to Kyouya yet. “Here.” Dino gave it to the hungry man.

Kyouya started eating the sandwich in the same slow manner he had used to destroy the one before it. "You're not eating."

Dino shrugged. “I’m not hungry at the moment.” he responded with a smile. “I’ll eat later.”

"...If you're not hungry now, why are we having this picnic?"

“The reason we’re having this picnic is to enjoy the day, Kyouya. Besides, it’d do you good to be away from the mansion and my men for a while, I think.” Dino answered honestly.

"They are quite a crowd." Kyouya paused. "Though if we're supposed to get away from them, they might want to be less conspicuous in their spying. I've counted at least four of them peeking in on us within the last hour. They seem to think that being far away, behind cover, and utterly still is enough to render them invisible."

A warm laughter rang in the air. “Ha ha! Please don’t blame them. They are only worried about me. I’m sure they only want to make sure I’m alright. Bad habit of constantly being near me is hard to break, I guess.” he chuckled. Why, yes, he also realized his men spying on them.

"Good thing I'm not exactly in a condition to have sex outdoors." Kyouya paused. "Or maybe it's a bad thing. Hm." Traumatizing subordinates could be fun, after all.

“I’d really appreciate it if you didn’t think about traumatizing my subordinates so early, Kyouya.” Dino chuckled. “I still need them at the moment.” Not that he’d ever not need them anymore, though.

"I didn't say I'd break them all. Maybe just... encourage them to be less nosy." Not that he would. He was yet to discover any exhibitionist tendencies in himself. He preferred his private moments, well, private.

“I can tell them to stop bothering you if you want.” Dino offered, caressing Kyouya’s cheek because he could.

"It would be appreciated." It would be much easier to ignore the crowding if the constant presence of people wasn't so obvious.

“I’d immediately told them.” Later on, though. For now, Dino only wanted to enjoy the day with Kyouya for a little longer.

"Mm." Kyouya went on with murdering the sandwich in a slow, torturous manner. He felt no need to say anything right now.

Dino watched Kyouya murdered the sandwich with equal amount of trepidation and amusement. He also didn’t say anything at the moment, knowing that silence was a lot more appreciated by Kyouya at times.

Finally Kyouya finished his snack, licking the last bits from his fingertips. "Could have been worse," came his judgment at last.

“I’m glad you approve, then.” Dino chuckled lightly. “You know, relaxing like this makes me doesn’t want to go back to Japan.” he murmured, leaning back and closing his eyes, enjoying the breeze. “I don’t even realize I miss Italy this much.”

"We both have a job there, though," Kyouya reminded him. "We can't escape it forever."

“I know. I also have a job here, even if we don’t go back to Japan.”

"I don't. For the time being, I have promised to protect the university... and until such a time as there is no more need for that, I will keep my word."

That statement finally made Dino opened his eyes. “Protecting the university, huh? When will that job ends, you think?”

"When the baby finds someone else to do that particular job, I would presume." Kyouya paused. "Or decides I am no more adequate."

“Looks like it wouldn’t happen anytime soon.” Dino commented with a light chuckle. “Do you like the job? Teaching could be quite tiring, right?”

"Especially when the children are as idiotic as they are." Kyouya shook his head. "Also, I'm dropping my flame control classes as soon as someone else is willing to pick them up. I can't teach lighting the flame like most people do it, and they cannot use my way."

Dino laughed. “Oh, well, your way certainly is exceptional. Although, I must say teaching you flame control was very easy.” he chuckled.

"I suppose you knew how I work." Kyouya's lips twitched as he glanced down at his rings, tiny flames of purple dancing there. "I... have tried using simple resolve, you know. It doesn't work."

“Hm? To produce your flame?” the blonde man shifted slightly. “Why did you try it?”

"Because that's how everyone else does it, from what I have heard. Clearly, my way does not work for my students."

Dino hummed thoughtfully. “It is, commonly. Then again, everyone has different way to actually ignite their flame.” he brought up his engagement ring and, with little concentration, lit it up, producing a small dual-colors flame. “There’s no need to try and change your way to ignite it.”

"Not for the purpose of usage, no. But I do need some form of inkling as to the most common method, or I am quite useless when it comes to instructing others in the same." Kyouya looked at his own rings. He didn't even realize the small stones on his earlobes were lighting up as well.

“If I’m you, I will gladly give the class to someone else. It’ll be good if you don’t have to teach yet another bunch of useless student, right?” Dino suggested with a grin, putting off his flame.

"As I said, I'm giving it up as soon as I find someone capable and willing to take it over." Kyouya paused. "Though then, probably just about anyone is more capable and willing than I."

“...I doubt Xanxus is more capable at teaching that class than you.” Dino murmured.

"He would be the 'just about.'" A small smirk curled Kyouya's lips. "Hey. Think I could learn to use his flame?"

Dino choked at his own spit. “You- w-what? No! No, you really shouldn’t learn to use his flame!” he replied.

"Why not? You are the one who taught me to use irritation. One would imagine rage to be only a step further."

“It’d be too dangerous! Either for you or for anyone else. Rage is a really good way to ignite your flame, yes, but it also makes your flame even more uncontrollable, Kyouya!”

"Never mind more destructive." He didn't even know if he was teasing Dino or being serious, here. Possibly part both. "I might need the destructive power, now, until I regain my physical strength."

Dino couldn’t disagree with the more destructive part, but he still wouldn’t back down here. “You won’t need that power while I’m still with you. Besides, it won’t be long until you regain your normal strength.” He said without hesitation.

"Still too long." Kyouya let the flames die out, though not before the last of them turned his third ring into a small, sniffing hedgehog.

“Patience really never is your virtue.” the blonde man commented, shaking his head with fond exasperation. He watched as Roll sniffed at their food before taking a small sandwich and torn it into small pieces, giving a piece to the hedgehog.

Kyouya watched as Roll ate the sandwich, bit by bit. Most box animals could not eat normal food, Gokudera's cat being a notable exception, but then he had always considered Roll more of a pet than a weapon. A very powerful and useful pet, yes, but still.

At least she couldn't get drunk on too many sandwiches.

“I wonder if Roll ever get hungry.” Dino murmured thoughtfully.

"I doubt that," Kyouya replied. "She mainly feeds on flames, after all, and I rarely have lack of those."

Dino chuckled. “Maybe it’s Scuderia who often gets hungry.” he hummed.

"Calling yourself weak, Cavallone?"

“Not at all. I’m just saying that I rarely get him out if not really necessary.”

"In that case he hardly uses much flame. The box is effectively hibernation, after all." He paused. "When I am better, will you teach me to ride? Normal horses, that is."

Dino blinked at Kyouya’s unexpected request. “Oh, sure! We can train here. There are a lot of horses here.” he grinned. “I’m sure you’ll catch on really quick. You’re already an expert at riding, after all.”

Kyouya didn't think it was that unexpected. Just because he preferred small animals didn't mean he couldn't like the big ones, too. Dino's last comment, though, got him to snort even as he smirked. "Dirty old man."

“You’re the only one who can make me think about dirty stuffs, Kyouya.” Dino said in low tone.

"I assume that's supposed to be a good thing." Teasing smirk.

“Oh, it’s a really good thing indeed, Kyouya.” he returned the smirk. “If my subordinates are not watching, I’d certainly kiss you right here right now.” he continued with a sigh.

"You are too prudish to even kiss your fiancé if there is a chance someone might see?"

Dino’s eyes darkened. “The problem here is that... once I kiss you, it’ll be really hard for me to stop.” Even so, he was already leaning in so that his face now was only inches away from Kyouya’s.

"I am still injured, though. Surely you would remember to go easy on my poor, abused body?"

“I can’t wait for the day,” Dino couldn’t help himself from giving Kyouya a soft kiss on the lips. “where I can embrace you tightly again.” he finished softly.

"Believe me... even I am getting impatient, waiting for that day." Kyouya's lips twitched against Dino. "And when it comes to sex, I am the patient one."

Dino chuckled against Kyouya’s lips. “For now, though, I think both of us should wait for a little longer.” he kissed Kyouya again.

"Agreed," Kyouya murmured, one hand rising to tangle in the blond locks. "If I feel pain simply for reaching for a sandwich the wrong way..."

“Then we shouldn’t do anything even more strenuous than that. I won’t want you to reopen your wounds.”

"I know." Kyouya gave Dino something almost like a smile. "I know you'd probably love to hear me scream, but not for those reasons."

Dino winced. “I would never want to hear you scream out of pain, Kyouya.” Because he had never heard Kyouya scream out of pain before and if the man did it, Dino had no doubt that the pain was really bad.

"I know. Hence, let's stick to kisses for now."

Kisses were good enough. At least it was for a moment. Dino leaned in to capture Kyouya’s lips again, his hand moved to caress the younger man’s cheek softly.

Kyouya returned the kiss, his hand combing through Dino's hair, not even caring if anyone saw them right now.

None of them cared about anyone seeing at the moment. If anything, Dino nibbled on Kyouya’s lower lip, asking for an entrance to deepen the kiss as he closed his eyes, enjoying Kyouya;s hand on his hair.

Kyouya opened his mouth readily, shifting against the tree trunk for better support, settling as he found a position where he could deepen the kiss without worrying about paining himself.

Dino’s tongue slipped into Kyouya’s mouth once he had been granted the entrance. He was still taking in mind about Kyouya’s injuries, though, so he pulled away after a moment, dark eyes staring at Kyouya’s.

“...If we continue, I doubt I’ll ever stop.” he whispered huskily.

"No self-control, Cavallone?" Kyouya murmured. "...Very well. Let us stop for now."

“You, out of anyone else, should know best about my self-control, Kyouya.” He always lacked it whenever he was around the dark haired man, after all.

“Yes, let’s stop for now. The day has gone too cold for us to stay outside, too. It might be good to go back inside now.”

"That might be the best, yes." Kyouya paused, then pressed a small kiss on Dino's lips. "Give me a cookie."

Dino chuckled before reaching out to take a cookie and putting it in front of Kyouya’s lips. “Here.”

Kyouya snatched it with his teeth, smirking at Dino around the treat as he brought his hand up to grasp the cookie when he took a bite. "...Sweet."

“Really? I should give a compliment to my Chef then.” Dino smiled. “Will you take Roll back, now?” he lifted the small hedgehog onto his palm.

"Here, Roll." Kyouya nudged at the hedgehog, who quickly ran up his arm onto his shoulder. He might have still been weak, but he could at least afford enough flames every now and then to keep his little friend around for a while. "Shall we go in, then?" He took another bite of the cookie.

“Sure.” Dino gave Kyouya yet another kiss, on the cheek this time, before standing up and reaching out his hand towards the dark haired man. “Come on, Love.”

"And what of the rest of the food?" Kyouya asked even as he allowed himself to be helped up, managing to conceal most of his wince. "Are your little lapdogs going to clean up for us?"

“My beloved men will clean up for us, yes.” Dino rolled his eyes softly. “They may even finish the foods if they are hungry.” he added with a chuckle.

"I'm sure in a crowd this size, there will always be enough men willing for a snack." Kyouya tried not to make it obvious that he was leaning against Dino ever so slightly. It was annoying, not being as strong as he was used to. But then, the damage had been quite massive. Most people would have died, he had no doubt, not been standing in little over a month, support or not.

“Hence the reason there’s always snacks in my kitchen.” Dino commented even as he looped his arm on Kyouya’s waist, supporting the man. He kissed Kyouya’s dark hair fondly. “Let’s get back in, now, the breeze won’t do you good now.” he chuckled before he started walking towards the mansion, leaving the garden behind them.
