Tsuna had barely escaped from Lambo who kept insisting on Asobo asobo! when he heard that greeting. He recognised that voice anywhere, a distinctively Colonello kora, because old habits die hard. The brunette curled his lips into a small smile and chose to get away from the crowd. He hadn't noticed that the blonde was obviously buzzed until he sat down beside him. Wrinkling his nose, Tsuna blinked and realisation dawned on him.

Aaah, Colonello was drinking. This made sense, the man had hardly helped him with the dinosaurs! Of course he had gone and distracted himself with the booze like any manly man not into boxing would have done. (Ryohei was not envious, not at all, but he did sometimes regret that he couldn't join people when they had fun that way. It did look very fun!)
"Heeey, dude," Ryohei said, clapping him on the back, "Don't drop those, okey!" he laughed, remembering Colonello's journal entry about his coffee cups.
^_^ Time to drop Yamamoto back in~lolwhutizthisOctober 17 2008, 03:06:57 UTC
Just then, Yamamoto reappeared from the kitchen where he had been helping his father make the rest of the food with trays of sushi, one in each hand.
"Hey, guys~ Tsuna~ Food's up! Drinking all that alcohol without eating something is bad for you!" With that he put the trays down on the side tables, with his father close behind him with more trays.
Re: Time to drop Gokudera in, too!literarybombOctober 18 2008, 12:24:00 UTC
Gokudera followed the boss around as he greeted people. He was glad that most of the Vongola came to wish the boss a good birthday. He stood behind the boss as he greeted Colonello. Soon, Turfhead and Baseball Nut appeared and crowded around them. There were only two of them, but with their heights (and Turfhead's noise), it seemed like the five of them was a big party already.
"Hey, please thank your dad for allowing us to rent the place, baseball nut," he told Yamamoto as the guy passed by. "The boss looks really pleased despite..." he winced at the large balloons, "despite the decorations..."
With that, he swiped a sushi plate from Yamamoto's tray and placed it in front of the boss.
Time to take Tsuna out then~xx100dontkillmeOctober 18 2008, 13:16:43 UTC
Seeing all the smiling faces, Tsuna felt a rush of warmth fill him. They had specially gathered for his birthday and everyone was having some sort of fun. The brunette felt an insane spread of happiness flow through his veins. This was what it was supposed to be like. Friends happy together.
Seeing that his guests were taken care of, Tsuna wondered if it was wise to take a moment to steal away. The day had been hectic and to be honest he was tired of crowds. Perhaps it wouldn't hurt and nobody would notice him taking a breather at the back door. He was just about to slip away as subtly as possible when Gokudera-kun appeared. So much for that. Stealing a salmon roll, he wondered if it was better to leave them alone.
Re: No make him staaaaay~ Then Yamamoto could surprise him with the huglolwhutizthisOctober 18 2008, 15:48:06 UTC
"No problem, Gokudera-kun~" Yamamoto said cheerfully as he swiped an anago sushi for himself. He looked around and was happy to see everyone enjoying the food and drinks, especially Tsuna, since this was for his birthday after all. Hmmm...yumm.... His dad's sushi was as great as ever.
"Oh, Tsuna! I almost forgot! Your birthday present!" Hurriedly he darted back towards the kitchen and came back with a roughly wrapped box which he held out to Tsuna. "Here you go!"
B-b-but Lambo needs to be rescued from the claws that is Hibacchu!xx100dontkillmeOctober 19 2008, 05:48:59 UTC
Tsuna wondered if he would ever get used to being surprised, pleasantly of course, the unpleasant surprises usually involved getting teased and bullied. Accepting the box with a smile that he hoped was as vibrant as the wrapper, Tsuna hugged it close, not willing to unwrap his gift in public.
"Y-you didn't have to Yamamoto! I'm happy as it is," Tsuna beamed at some of the most important people in his life. So this is how it feels like to belong, he mused quietly, hoping that his good luck would not die on him.
you didn't open yama's gift ;; <-- curiousliterarybombOctober 19 2008, 13:36:32 UTC
Gokudera blinked as his boss rushed off his chair to Lambo's side. Beside Lambo sat Hibari Kyouya, and Gokudera understood. Apparently, the boss realized the need for his presence before Hibari minced Lambo to little stupid cow pieces.
He did not follow the boss. He can watch the boss from here (plus, he would probably get into an argument with either Lambo or Hibari again, and Boss wouldn't like it). He stuffed a sushi in his mouth and downed it with his drink.
Yamamoto was still beside him. He seemed to be in party spirit, but he wasn't walking around much. Maybe he got tired from all the preparations? Gokudera felt a little guilty.
"So..." Gokudera said, swirling the contents of his glass. "How's it going?"

^^; I have no clue myself what Yamamoto got for Tsuna...I guess Tsuna can decide what he got~lolwhutizthisOctober 19 2008, 22:03:48 UTC
Yamamoto popped a spicy tuna roll in to his mouth, chewing happily. Out of the corner of his eye, he watched as Tsuna averted a disaster in progress by distracting Lambo from Hibari. Even he knew that putting them together wasn't a good idea.
Grabbing a stool from the side, he half-sat, half leaned on it as he popped another piece of sushi into his mouth. He wouldn't admit it, but he was a bit tired from a full day of work, then from rushing off here to help his father with preparations. But it was all worth it, considering the happy faces he saw around him.
"I'm doing great, Gokudera-kun." he responded cheerfully to his co-worker as took a sip of his tea. He didn't think alcohol would be a good idea tonight since he was expecting to help clean up afterward as well. "I'm just about finished with my draft, so you can expect it soon. How about you?"
aw, you're making dera feel guilty for enslaving you :3literarybombOctober 20 2008, 13:29:21 UTC
"That's good," Gokudera replied absently. He had emptied his glass in one swallow again. He filled it once more, staring at the bottom of the glass as if he could see his fortune in it. "Maybe I can...try to scan it as soon as you send it. I don't usually have a hard time since I'm entertained with your sto--"
Lambo and Ryouhei's ruckus from the other side of the room made Gokudera catch his words. "I- I mean, you are very conscientious of your typesetting and grammar, so I don't think I'll have difficulty copy-editing it."
Swirling his glass once more, Gokudera stole a glance at the boss, who was busy debating with Hibari. Gokudera didn't know what else was to do, so emptied his glass once more.
"Oh would you? That'll be great!" Yamamto said cheerfully as he munched on some more sushi. He grinned widely as he caught Gokudera's next words despite all the noise the other party goers were making. "I'm glad you like my work~ I hope Tsuna likes my new drafts as well!"
Washing down the food with another gulp of tea, he frowned a bit as he watched Gokudera down another glass of alcohol. "Hey, you really should eat more to go with that alcohol you've been drinking or you'll get a bad hangover tomorrow!" With that, Yamamoto snagged a smaller plate from the side and filled it with some of his favorites from the serving trays before handing it to Gokudera. "Here you go!"
Gokudera swallowed the last drop of his drink and blinked at the boss from far away. "Yeah, he probably will. Boss rarely rejects stuff anyway. 'All in good intention,' he'd say." Gokudera chuckled, refilling his glass again when Yamamoto slid a plate towards him.
He had completely forgotten about the food, what was he thinking? He gingerly took a sushi, smelled it, and jammed it into his mouth. "Youf thdat mwks gwud stchf!" he said. He swallowed. "I don't even like sushi that much, but your dad's just make me come back a lot." He took another gulp of his wine. "Your sake is amazing, too!"
Yamamoto laughed and glanced over at Tsuna again before turning his attention back to his tea. "Yeah, Tsuna's a great guy~ The best~"
Nodding in agreement to Gokudera's statment, he picked up an unagi handroll and bit into it. Yamamoto swallowed his bite before replying, "My dad'll be happy to hear that! Nothing but the best in this restaurant!"
Gokudera sighed, emptying his glass once more. "Yeah. He's too nice, I think."
He laughed a little at Yamamoto's remark about his father. "Really?" he asked, staring towards the end of the counter where the kitchen was barely visible. "How about you?"
