There was something satisfying about balancing the books. Every time Marmon reached the end of an account and the figures were the same, he couldn't help but feel accomplished. And there was rarely a time when things didn't come out balanced. He was proud of that too. Finally finished reconciling the month of January, he tidied his desk a bit gathering the loose bits of paper and stacking them together.

Taking the necessary files, he stuffed them into a manila envelope to file away. Picking up the envelope, Marmon stood up from his desk and made his way towards where all the paper work was stored. Everything was organized into months and separated into boxes according to year. Pulling out the box for 2009, he dropped the envelope inside. There, he was done. For now.

Hearing the door opening behind him, Marmon turned around. Seeing Xanxus walk in, Marmon nodded his head slightly in acknowledgment and said, "Hello Boss. What are you doing here?" It was odd seeing the boss in the finance office since he was rarely in there. He hoped he wasn't going to get in trouble or anything.

Giving a half shrug Marmon replied, "No, not at all. Sales from January are lower compared to last January. Though I think that's just because of the recession." This entire economy going down was giving him a headache. It meant more work for him; re-calculating budgets, negotiating about prices and other things. Well, not like the Varia was going to be running out of money anytime soon but the accounting books had to at least look... legit. "There's no other problems," he added.
