In a way, it might have been easiest to leave things to Lippi. After all, being his personal assistant meant that he was tailored to such things and Byakuran would likely see to it that Lippi was sent out on similar quests later on that day. But, for now, Byakuran insisted on taking his time, exploring the strip malls and other such features of Namimori's urban landscape.

He didn't have to be at the office until late and it never hurt to make Lippi squirm a bit, especially with the sorts of memos Byakuran left long after the other had taken his leave for the day-- and Byakuran always made a habit of wrapping up just as the other was simply to frustrate him.

But for now, Byakuran was on his own, scouring the local grocer's for a cheap snack-- gummies seemed to be a favorite of his lately, but as he browsed he couldn't help but become intrigued by a set of more traditional Japanese sweets.

Don't expect 69 to be carrying your sweets, 100-san. >: manipulater February 11 2009, 00:50:54 UTC
He probably shouldn't have left just yet, but a short walk to get some air was doing him good. The pile of paperwork and all the chatter about Valentine's Day was a bad mixture for Mukuro and he was definitely sick of the colors red and pink. But he knew it couldn't be helped until the holiday was over. He could only hope it would bypass quickly.

For now he'd try to find something that would last him throughout the day. Something to munch on or some kind of drink, Mukuro wasn't sure what he wanted just yet, waiting for something to present itself during the time limit he'd set himself before going back to the office. However, the PR head didn't expect to see this.

"Byakuran-san, a coincidence I'm sure."

Ohoho~ :3 We'll see about that. srslyevilbzns February 11 2009, 13:36:50 UTC
Byakuran paused at the familiar voice. Now, this was a surprise to see the other out and about. It was rare, indeed, that he met anyone while shopping, for better or worse, but to meet the man he'd moved so quickly to obtain after certain forces had taken the bookstore quite literally out from beneath his feet while on such a mundane errand... Ah, perhaps today was promising to be a bit more interesting than he had suspected it might be.

"Mu-chan," he smiled, replacing a bag of sweets to turn and greet the other with a casual, if blank smile, "This is quite a surprise. Shopping for the holiday?"

"Not at all," Mukuro replied, a grin though there wasn't any humor in his expression. He wasn't expecting to meet Byakuran, his employer, on a small trip like this. Dual eyes glanced around and noticed just where the other man, and coincidentally he, was standing.

Sweets, hm. Why am I not surprised.

His gaze shifted back to Byakuran, tinges of amusement appearing. "How about yourself, Byakuran-san?"

"Aaah, no," Byakuran laughed a little at the expression on Mukuro's face. He lets his shopping basket rest against the shelves as he leans on it. He didn't get opportunities like this often, to see the other out of his usual place of business, much less in a place like this.

"I'm simply taking advantage of the season for a few interesting snacks. I'm afraid I'm quite single this year, as well."

... Would he even? >: manipulater February 12 2009, 06:22:00 UTC
"Is that right."

Not like it really mattered to him, but Mukuro had made it his business to try to gather as much information as subtly as possible to satisfy his curiosity. After all, Byakuran was one of those people he deemed intriguing enough to find out more about. Working for Millefiore made it easy and difficult at the same time. But every little bit counted in his books.

"Well, you certainly have... nice timing," he mused, glancing around at all the sweets that were on display for the upcoming holiday. He inwardly cringed at the overuse of the blatant color scheme, but red and pink had been and still were associated to Valentine's Day. His gaze rested back on Byakuran once more. "But I had assumed~ I guess my assumption has been proven wrong once more."

.... It depends on your definition of nice. srslyevilbzns February 12 2009, 07:47:03 UTC
Ah, Mukuro certainly was something. Even whilst in his company's walls, he still had his eyes on something more, digging just a little deeper. It was more than a little charming having such a powerful interest on him and Byakuran had no qualms when it came to encouraging it. After all, the more games he played within his company, the more fun things would be in the long-term, in-between his work in dominating the industry.

"Oh? Now you have me curious," he remarked, humming lightly, "Whatever could you have been assuming about me?"

... I think our definitions differ in that dept. >: manipulater February 12 2009, 17:00:07 UTC
"Hm~ Curiosity will only let you go so far if and or when allowed," Mukuro said, more of his usual amusement toning his voice.

It wasn't wise, being careless when talking with a man like Byakuran and Mukuro knew. They were similar in this aspect which, if the PR were honest, made things a lot more interesting. Deriving entertainment from these kinds of interactions was odd, surely, but Mukuro enjoyed them all the same. It was refreshing to see someone tangle with him like this.

But playing it cautious would also need to factor in. Now that he was on Millefiore grounds with the man, Byakuran could watch every single move he made if he wanted to. Mukuro wouldn't doubt that the CEO knew everything that went on in his building.

"Oooh? Are you going to deny me now?" Byakuran mused, the same amusement that colored Mukuro's tones coloring his own. Now, here was so much of the reason why he had been interested in hiring the other. Mukuro was quite the enigma and it was rare that he had someone to indulge his interest in such things, much less share it.

"How cruel. I'd have thought we were friends now."

Hmmmm? manipulater February 16 2009, 03:18:25 UTC
"Oya? 'Friends' is such a familiar term, Byakuran-san. You're making it sound as if we've known each other well for some time," Mukuro said, turning his sights to something else. He had come to this little store for a reason, and even though Byakuran was here, he wasn't going to be deterred from his original goal. It might seem like he was just indulging the other man, but well... In a way, he was and in a way, he wasn't. Byakuran could interpret his action however, the man liked.
