Had she been alone, Uni would have laughed at how ridiculous her reflection -- caught while passing all those glass walls -- looked, weighed down with packages as it was. But Kuroki was with her, similarly encumbered, dogging her steps with the persistent exactness that had kept him at her side all these years. It wouldn't do to laugh aloud. He would only think her mad.
She didn't even have to glance at him to know that he was wearing a disgruntled, disapproving expression. Kuroki did not think associating with Gamma would be good for her. In fact he had, over the past two months, told her this several times in as many variations of the sentiment: Uni-sama should avoid more complications. Her life is difficult enough as it is.
But then, what did he know? He had met her only after the merger, after all.
Finally finding her way through the labyrinthine corridors of Paphiopedilum Tower to Gamma's office, Uni set the boxes down and knocked at the door.
