Holy smokes-- I actually wrote things this year!
Time for the end of year fanwork round up! I wrote nothing but Life on Mars fan fiction this year, and man did I enjoy the heck out of it. It wasn't until I started compiling this list that I actually realized how MUCH I wrote-- right around 40,000 words in all! Not bad, considering the first LoM fic I *ever* posted was near the end of December 2012.
There are two works here that are still in progress (noted below), but one is a Christmas fic that is just about ready to wrap and the other-- that damn infuriating but much loved BOXING FIC-- has one chapter remaining, which I hope to cap off soon. Then I'll really be feeling proud! In any case, below the cut are links to the (count 'em!) nine Life on Mars fics I wrote this year in vaguely chronological order, plus a bonus of two cracky fan art pieces that also occurred. :D
The Sweet Science (WIP): Sam attempts to turn CID into a healthier workplace, encouraging Gene in particular to slim down and shape up. The only form of exercise the Guv will agree to? Boxing. Basically what it says on the tin. Full of physicality, denial, and the occasional Rocky-inspired dream sequence. Slash, Sam/Gene, Brown Cortina (M)

Five Shirts: The clothes make the man, right? Well, Gene Hunt may have a thing or two to say about letting his wardrobe dictate the rules. A five part series that surprised me by turning into character study. Gen and multiple pairings (Sam/Gene, Gene/Annie), White - Brown Cortina (K-M)

One of His Dying Memories: Gene Hunt never would have guessed that his day would end like this, but WPC Cartwright tending his injuries in that nurse's uniform? Well there's only so much a man can take… This was originally conceived as PWP, but developed (gasp) backstory and almost-plot. I still blame girlwtmousyhair for accidentally giving me the idea, and basaltgrrl for poking me with the increasingly famous fic stick. Het, Gene/Annie, Brown Cortina (M)

Smoke: Sam doesn't smoke-- except for that one time where he does. A short (!) fic I wrote after becoming wildly intoxicated and stealing one of my bf's cigarettes (neither a shock nor a shame!). Kinda slashy in a Sam/Gene-ish way. Green Cortina (T).

And If I Swallow Anything Evil (FICATHON 2013): An escaped convict seeks revenge, and dredges up painful memories from Gene's past. Gene chooses an unlikely partner in pursuit of this hated figure, and with WDC Annie Cartwright in tow he gets a bit more than he bargained for. This was my entry for the 2013 Lifein1973 ficathon, written from a prompt by the lovely basaltgrrl. By rights it should have been smut, but it turned into angsty action/drama with a side order of whump and awkward sexual tension/friendship. Just about squeaks in as Gene/Annie, Blue Cortina (T)

The way to a man's heart (is through his stomach): Sam makes dinner for Gene. Gene is still hungry. This fic was born out of Thanksgiving overindulgence, plain and simple. Slash, Sam/Gene, Blue Cortina (T, with a bit of racy action).

Meow!: The Manc Lion entertains his furry brethren. A humorous ficlet written to accompany a glorious kitty-filled sketch by aisforinterval (featured at the top of the post). Cracky gen, Gene/Kitties, White Cortina.

Merry and Bright (WIP): A chance encounter on Christmas Eve sets Sam and Gene up for an unexpectedly interesting holiday. This was written for the 2013 Advent Calendar at lifein1973. Unfortunately I forgot how busy the last couple weeks of December are for me at work, so part two isn't finished just yet-- aiming to wrap it up in the next two days! It's slash. Sam/Gene, currently sitting at a modest Green Cortina (T), but may rise. *smirks mildly*

Where You Are: Gene has mysteriously joined Sam in 2006 following the train tunnel incident. Gene isn't adjusting well to life in the future, and Sam still has worries of his own. This was written for aisforinterval according to her very satisfying prompt in this year's martianholiday exchange. Gen, AU, Sam and Gene, Blue Cortina (T).

BONUS CRACKY FAN ART SECTION!
In late August/early September I somehow had the urge to draw comical LoM scenes, and thus ended up with A Typical Night in the Pub and More Scenes From a Pub. These garnered some laughs and a few surprising comments concerning my art abilities (are you guys serious?! LOL). Pure silliness, White Cortina (K)-- or perhaps Green Cortina for drunken antics? ;)

My main goals for 2014 are to write shorter fics with greater frequency, and to hopefully poke my head into BtVS fandom and play with my friends there a bit more!
