How's it going, dudes and dudettes?
Hope your life have not been too hard due to the lack of my updates during those past (looks at the date of my previous entry three months and eight days. Man, that's a long time. Let's what's new with me.
Well, Kyle (
greekgodinmakin/
manaco) and I finally took a journey, both long and short, if you will. We decided to travel through hell and back, known as the North Jersey, only to find the legendary Devil's Tree. Those who live ANYWHERE in New Jersey, would have heard of it. The rest, well, you probably have not, unless you are very into weird, spooky stuff.
This tree is quite far from where I currently live: Clayton, NJ. However, it is but only fifteen minutes from where my mother lives.
For more information on this tree, go to weirdnj.com or buy a book, either the first or second volume of Weird NJ. The stories are quite interesting, but of course, Kyle and I totally disproved those stories, which I believe to be completely embellished.
Anyway, I uploaded a video of the tree on myspace and facebook, so go check it out. Here are the pictures. I know they are dark. I took the pictures in the wrong angles. The sun was really up high that day. Still, I'm glad to cross this place off my Weird Places To Go list. However, this is not my last trip to that tree. I'm sure I will bring my other friends along with me someday or... some night... I want to go there at night, but I'll rather wait until a full moon rises or Friday the 13th comes up. Lolz. Anyway, ENJOY!
Here are the stories I have heard:
A group of teens actually touched the tree itself. A couple of hours later at the diner, they found their hands to be completely blackened. Apparently, it took them an hour to finally get it off. TRUE, BUT TOTALLY EXAGGERATED! Kyle touched the trunk. Yes, his hands did get black, more like ashy black, really. but it didn't take too long to get it off.
This I haven't tested out yet, but supposedly, at night, if you bother the tree, while you are in the car, a bit after midnight (I think, or at least, when it's really dark out), the devil in a big, black truck will chase your car down the road. I don't really believe this because across from the tree is actually a well constructed road to a nice-looking suburban neighborhood. Who would live there if it was too dangerous?
The tree is supposedly a gateway to hell. How cool is that?
Look at the lowest left branch in the first picture. Well, you are looking at the hanging branch, which was used by the KKK members. Now, The only way to prove or disprove this story is to use a time machine, so we will never really know the truth of this story, but it does add a good amount of spookiness to this tree. Lolz.
Hmm, I think that's about it. I'll update this entry if I find more stories.
