A few weeks ago, a friend gave us some extra packets of Indian food - a very spicy tomato and eggplant dish. One evening, I offered it to Jonah with some plain yogurt. At first, he said he only wanted a tiny bit of yogurt, because he likes things a little spicy. After a few bites, he asked for more yogurt. Two scoops later, he said it was great. Once he was done, he required a popsicle for dessert to cool his mouth.
Of course, Jonah is not the only one who thinks Indian food is spicy. A few days after that, I took some frozen Indian food to work. It was much hotter than I expected, but I had not taken plain yogurt to work (and I thought blueberry yogurt would be weird). Instead, I cooled it off with some matzah that had been sitting at my desk since Passover last year. That was a non-authentic but good combination.
And today, I made dinner out of three packets of pre-prepared microwavable food - paneer, another spicy packet (which was what Jonah really wanted!), and brown rice with quinoa. It's an easy way to cook...
