My first lesson: Halloween

Oct 27, 2008 18:57

So today I gave a lesson in the bilingual class's English class. I gave out a worksheet about halloween (that I made myself) as well as a bit of literature that I pieced together from wikipedia. It was kind of crazy, to say the least- the kids get excited I guess. I showed them a couple pictures but from my lap top, since we couldn't get it connected to the projector right away. Gotta figure that out. They LOVE seeing pictures, OMG. If I can some how get my lap top connected to the projector that'll be GREAT.

We're having a halloween party at school on Friday, so we're dressing up. I've decided, I'm going to be an American farm girl. Obviously there's not much in the way of costumes, so I went to the Chinese stores to see what I could find. FINALLY, at one of them, I found a straw hat-- bingo. It was funny, because my roommate was like, "You're not gonna find a straw hat here," when I told her my idea of being a farm girl and getting a straw hat. Hahaha, who called it? :) It SO made my day to find a straw hat.

I should be getting paid on Friday. That will be good to have euros in my bank account. I have a whole LIST of things that I'm gonna buy when I get paid. One of those is internet. I'll order that USB modem from Simyo next week. Assuming all goes well and the darn thing works (let's hope so-- it costs 99 euros just for the USB modem istelf), my life should be much easier, and I can actually get more materials and advice and what not for teaching some classes.

On a totally random note, my hands smell like garlic- I cooked a yummy cous cous dish for lunch. Oh I love cous cous. Cooking it was sort of therapeutic too, especially after teaching that crazy class!

Oh, and I went to Cordoba this weekend... I'll make a post with photos next.
