My weekend (written on Sunday)

I'm having a pretty good weekend for being in Hinojosa! On Friday I invited MJ, Nati, and Sandra over for dinner. I wanted to cook the “Auflauf” (German for “casserole”) that I learned from Gabi and Oliver, so I did. It was a big hit!

Here's the recipe for those of you who are interested:

Get the fresh Tortellini that you just have to heat up. Put the ingredients
into the casserole in this order:

Tortellini
Corn for in between
Tomatoes for the liquid
Cheese (Gouda - important)
Tortellini
Onions (fry onions before putting them in the casserole
Pepper (yellow, fry before)
Mushrooms
Mozzarella

Bake 30 Min. at 200°C
Add some cream
Turn down oven to 160°C, bake until cheese is light brown

This time we substituted zucchini for the mushrooms, since I already had some zucchini, compliments of Laura! And we used 2 peppers- red and yellow. Also Adi added some flavor to the peppers using one of those veggie broth cubes. We used two small packets of tortellini, which we cooked first since we didn't have the soft kind. One packet had meat and the other had cheese. And instead of tomatoes we used tomato sauce, which I figured made more sense as I keep that around, plus fresh tomatoes aren't really in season.

On Saturday my main accomplishment was cleaning the bathroom and watching family guy in Spanish. I stayed in the house all day until around 7 or 8pm when Mara texted me, “Do you fancy a drink?” (lol... I love how they use British English here...:) so we met up at Cafe-Bar Central Casa el Gato, or as I refer to it, “el gato”, which is where Adri (the romanian woman) works. So Mara and I were chatting there, then Vicente joined us. We eventually headed to Meson el Condesito for dinner where we shared queso (cheese), patatas bravas (fried potatos with a type of mayo and pepper.... surprisingly good!), and pinchones ...somethingrather. Some kind of pork pieces that were very good.

Today, main accomplishments included cleaning the laundry basket that's been sitting in our laundry room (it was there when we moved in and kinda dirty, so I finally cleaned it so I can use it!) and mopping the floor of the laundry room. Our laundry room is sort of outside... as in, it's in a patio with a roof overhead. Boy did that floor need cleaning! It's still not perfect, to be honest, but it sure is better now.
Sandra sent me a text message saying that they were gonna meet up at 6pm for a play or something, so I went, and Nati and a friend of hers were there. We ended up not going to see the play because we realized it was a child's play I guess, so instead we went for coffee, then for drinks, then for dinner, and then for a game of foosball-- by the way, Sandra is vicious at that!!! Haha. We had fun. And if that sounds like a long series of events, well, it is. But that's how the Spaniards live! We were hanging out from 6pm to 11:30pm.

So yeah, that was my weekend!

I'm so excited for Bulgaria... just 5 more days! I think I'm going to do lots of clothes shopping there since it's cheap. I've been losing weight here and all my pants are falling down!!! Yikes.
