Rebecca keeps on searchin' for a heart of gold.

It was raining when I woke up this morning and rained for most of the day, but it finally seems to be slacking off now, so I think I'll go for a bike ride soon. I haven't been in so long, and when I can't stretch my legs properly I feel so bloated and lazy.

In the meantime, my birthday is three weeks from today, so I threw together a list of things I want.
  • A mousepad of The Beatles.
  • A cool cup to keep my pencils in (can also be of The Beatles).
  • A cool set of salt and pepper shakers. These are easy to find at flea markets and garage sales. They just can't be anything too cute like angels or cats.
  • Interesting magnets for our refrigerator. Crossed out because I realized I can buy these at my store. We actually sell some pretty neat magnets.
  • A Calvin & Hobbes book that neither Sara nor I has yet. I would really like Attack of the Deranged Mutant Killer Monster Snow Goons or Homicidal Psycho Jungle Cat.
  • Paper Moon (1973) on DVD. Of course. Love this movie. Although Ryan O'Neal being such a scumbag is starting to marr it a little for me.
  • Cinderella (1965) on DVD. The best version of Cinderella ever! Heh heh.
  • Dream a World, a 1995 hardback reading textbook published by MacMillian/McGraw-Hill. From the information I've been able to dig up, this is my old 8th grade reading textbook. I'm not entirely sure because I haven't been able to find a picture of its cover. I think I would recognize it if I saw it. **
  • OR Just Past the Possible, 1995 reading textbook, MacMillan-McGraw-Hill; OR Widening Circles, 1983 reading textbook, Harcourt School Publishers. Again, I'm not entirely sure, but I think these were my 6th and 3rd grade textbooks.
  • The Poems & Rhymes Volume of Childcraft: The How & Why Library. When we were kids, we had the complete set of Childcraft books, but over the years, they've dwindled down to just a few. This is the one I miss the most, and I still can't believe we lost it! There have been several editions of Childcraft, and I'm not sure if they've changed over the years, but our set was the one published on 1976, and Poems & Rhymes was Volume 1, out of 15. We still have Volume 2: Stories & Fables; Volume 3: Children Everywhere; Volume 11: Make & Do; and Volume 15: Guide for Parents. And there are probably a few more still at Mom's house.

** Let me explain: I know it's weird, but I love finding old textbooks, especially for subjects I liked. In February 2007, I almost literally jumped for joy when I found my old 7th grade reading textbook in the for-sale aisle at the library. And since then, I've been dying to get my 8th grade one, too. My 6th grade one I don't want as much, because I don't remember it very well (my class didn't get them until the end of the year, because there weren't enough books to go around -- yeah, I went to a pretty shitty middle school).

Of course, I realize the last three things on that list will probably be a case of using my birthday money to buy them myself, which is fine.
