Same old house I grew up in, can't believe I'm back again...

Today we slept in, which felt really good. Sara slept on the couch because the futon in Mom's living room keeps cracking, and it probably couldn't hold up to another night of two people sleeping on it. I ate two big plates of Christmas dinner leftovers as soon as I woke up, and I wolfed them down so fast that I almost barfed and had to lie down again. Then Sara woke up and we watched (and made fun of) Sex and the City. Adam asked us why we watched it all if we hated it, and we tried to explain the concept of "hate-watching." Then Mom woke up and picked up her old habit of asking me to fetch and carry things for her. It was even more annoying than I'd remembered, so we got out of there and went to visit JC & Company.

Sara and I haven't been to their house in way too long, and we had so much fun! Eva was at her job at the mall, and Aunt Connie was out visiting Aileen, but she came back after a while, and Uncle John and Juliana were there. We played a few rounds of Qwixx, a rather complicated Mensa-approved dice game involving numbers and colors. We played with their adorable new puppy Linda, who was so excited to see new people that she peed on the floor a few times. We showed them photos from our trip to Colorado. We picked and ate some delicious, juicy home-grown lemons off Aunt Connie's lemon tree. Uncle John was astonished when Aunt Connie knew what his favorite movie was. (Apparently, it's Dead Men Don't Wear Plaid. Personally, I despise Steve Martin.) Aunt Connie and I talked crochet. I swung on their swingset, and I think it was worth the whole long trip. Their swingset is still as great as it ever was, and swinging on it feels so incredibly light and freeing. I know it sounds stupid, but it's true.

We didn't want to leave, but we've got a long drive to make tomorrow, so we finally did. I really wish we'd gotten to see Eva; I wish now that we'd stopped by the mall on our way back. I really despise the mall, but we could've just gone in and said hi to her. Oh, well.

Anyway, back at Mom's house, we spent the evening packing and watching Star Trek: The Next Generation (a must for me whenever I'm back at Mom's house). One thing that has really bothered me about this trip is that Mom and Adam didn't save any plastic bags for me. They knew I was coming and I would think that if they knew me at all (and maybe they don't), they would've saved some bags. My luggage was too squeezed for space to me to haul my crochet bag along, but I did bring my crochet hook and scissors. It drives me crazy to watch TV and not be able to crochet while I'm doing it, so instead, I've been trying to solve a rubix cube that Adam got for Christmas. I googled "how to solve a rubix cube" and managed to get one side and most of another side all in one color, but after that, the directions got too hard to follow.

I went to bed with a nice toothache. It's ironic that Mom always gets me a new toothbrush for Christmas, because the amount of sugary foods that she keeps in her house is unbelievable. Of course, it's really my fault for guzzling down soda and sugar cookies like a crack addict. I'm not the healthiest eater ("Oh no, far from it!") but my teeth aren't used to this.
