I never in my life imagined that one day, I'd be living in a place where I'd have to deal with snow and ice in March. But that's exactly what I've been doing! Earlier this week, we got dumped with so much snow and ice that one morning, Sara and I couldn't back our cars up to get to work. Our part of the parking lot was so icy that the wheels just spun and never moved. It was so frustrating because the non-icy part of the parking lot was soooo close, but we just couldn't get there! Sara never did get her truck to back up, and I only got my car to back up by putting cat litter under the wheels. When I finally got it off the ice, I looked over to see Sara cheering as if I'd just won an Olympic medal. And honestly, I felt like I had!
So on top of that, this week was pretty very stressful at work. Our biggest client just opened up seven new locations, and we all went a little crazy making sure that all the locations had all the supplies they needed. There were a few too-long days. I made one kinda big shipping mistake that I barely managed to catch in time to fix (and fixing it involved throwing my body in front of the UPS truck before he could drive off with my box - ugh) and I think I might've made another mistake, but I'm not sure. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that I'm just being paranoid.
I thought this weekend would never get here, but shehekianu, it did! And the good news is that since that awful icy morning, things have very slowly been warming up. Yesterday, it was even warm enough for short sleeves at the dog-park! I met Desaro, a new Chow mix who's not only a really beautiful dog, but also seemed very intelligent and well-behaved. He also had a pink-and-black tongue, which I thought was pretty awesome. I coaxed Dessa out of her kennel again, and I handled my first yellow dog. (As a new volunteer, I'm still limited to green dogs, who have no known issues.) Tina is a pit-bull whose issue is that she loves people, but does not get along with other dogs.
I've got halos made of summer, ribbons made of spring
I got crowns of words a woven, each one a song to sing
Give me something fun to do, chocolate, just a bite or two
Sunday mornings laying in the bed, all lazy
lyrics,
spring,
animal shelter volunteering,
work trauma,
winter
