We had such a beautiful Sunday here. I visited with JC & Company this afternoon, and this evening, I biked down to the lake to hear a conga-drum line. It's not something I would usually go to, but I got an invitation from a friend on FaceBook and didn't have anything better to do.
Because of the nice weather and the conga-drum event, the amphitheater on the lakefront was pretty crowded. There were lots of parents with kids, an ice-cream truck, and a few people flying box kites. They were the coolest-looking kites, and there was a good breeze, so they flew really high. I biked around listening to the drums for a while, then my friend Rachel showed up with her family. I also ran into a family I tangentially know from when I was a kid.
That's Rachel doing interpretive dance on the right. (See that little boy dancing in the background? Haha.) I have to say, I would've died if my mom ever did anything like this, but Rachel's kids didn't seem embarrassed. It was kind of a hippie-ish crowd that turned out.
I had to join in when they passed hula hoops out to the crowd! I've always been a good hula-hooper. When I was a kid, I could (and did) hula-hoop for hours. I can still hula hoop on my neck, arm, waist, and feet. The sun was going down by this time, so I had to get up and do something to stay warm!
This little girl was so cute. She wore a coin-covered skirt and wandered all around making new friends.
Tomorrow is the day when we go RED at work! Ugh! As you can tell from this blog, Rebecca prefers being in blue.
