Wash that year right out of my hair...

Welp, that's over. 2016, I mean.

In some ways, it was good for me, personally. ( Brief notes on my good fortune... )

Sounds like a good year (some great fics there!) with a nasty tail. I hope your mum will recover soon. Of course, there's no coming back from dementia. But I hope you can get your friend good care, and not wear yourself out too much while arranging it.

(So sweet that you remember the fic!) You know, I think my year was going great up until November or so. Sheesh.

Thanks for the good wishes. Right now, I feel up to the challenge. Of course, I've had a few days off...

Thanks! It definitely wasn't all bad. I think the pendulum swings better if we give it a little push! This had better be a year of even more engagement for me. The problem is that I not only live in California, but in San Francisco, and there's less to push against here. It's a bit of an echo chamber. Ah well, we do what we can, I suppose.

I enjoyed "Wonders never cease." Sorry about your mom and your friend.

I'm so pleased you enjoyed a fic of mine enough to remember it! We throw our little darlings out there, and we never know if anybody but us will care for them.

I'm pretty sure my mom will pull through just fine, and my friend has had a lot of adventures in his time. People get to the point where their independence compromises their safety, and most of us would choose independence for ourselves and safety for our loved ones, I think. It's tricky. Thanks for your sympathetic words.

I am glad you had a good year. I hope your mother's arm heals well.

Dear mama will muddle through. These things never keep her down for long. Although, this might be the first time she's actually broken something. Weirdly, a friend of hers did the exact same thing a couple of months ago - although this friend was stuck outside for a few hours until my mom found her -and it scared my mom into staying in more frequent contact with me. Not that it kept her from exposing herself to the same injury! Tsk. Whatever will we do with them?

Thanks for the good wishes.

I'm glad you had a somewhat good year, at least as far as personal involvement and writing achievements go.

I'm praying for your mom's recovery.

I don't feel like I wrote very much, but then I always think my output is down and it's always more or less the same as always. I think I started more things that didn't get finished this year, though! That means I have a head start for 2017, right?

Thanks for your kind thoughts.
