My Pennsic

Pennsic left me with a vague feeling of disappointment this year - I suppose because I had so little time to be there. I'd come for just the last weekend before - admittedly many years ago, and got lots done on Saturday and Sunday; this year everyone seemed to be packing it in early on Saturday!

The times, they do change. I had hoped to get more pick-ups and fighting in on Saturday and Sunday - but it wasn't to be.

The weird thing was Friday's field battles didn't tire me out. I mean, okay, after I got all my gear back to camp I was rather tired, but I didn't feel as WIPED as I'm used to after the field battles and friendship battles. Maybe it was just the refreshing, cool weather! What a difference that makes!

My worst hit was in the first battle - right on the forearm - which was kinda funny because I'd just gotten tangled up with another shieldman and only just escaped free to rush at a spearman and BANG! massive clobbering of the me on all sides!

It hurt like the dickens but I mostly forgot about it by the next battle. When I took off my gambeson in camp, however, I saw a goose egg to end all goose eggs! Looked like I'd swapped forearms with Popeye. The mother-hen brigade erupted around me and I had to sit for a while with ice on it. And promptly fell asleep. So much for not feeling tired, huh?

Glad I got to see Elisa's birthday bash and I got to spend time with many dear friends. I also scored greatly for the Midrealm Shopping Point. LET ME TELL YOU! OMG!!!

I got:
A silver ring with a sapphire in a quatrafoil.
Margaret Scott's new book.
A book on tax invoices of country gentry in the 14th century in England. (Uh... okay it's cool to me!)
A book of private letters of Medieval women. (Which my hubby already started skimming through and said, "Woah - way with the not liberated!")
A new tea strainer (I needed it! And it was right there!)
A string of amethyst beads
A string of tiger's eye beads
A string of jade beads
A string of adventurine beads
(Enough with the beads! Oh bad me and the attack of a new hobby!)
Some pretty cloisonné hair sticks
A lecture from my hubby on spending too much. :)
