I was just sitting outside having a smoke and a family of raccoons wandered out. Poppa and I had a bit of a chat establishing boundaries (okay mister, you just stay over there and I'll stay here and we'll be just fine, right?) The kits were adolescent-sized, but even so the four of them were just so adorable with their general innate, lovable furriness that I just melted and even unwound enough to roll them an orange (which promptly got wedged under the front wheel of my neighbour's scooter, but Momma took care of that right quick while I was distracted chatting with her guy.)
And I know that they are scavengers and disease carriers and murderers of kitties, but they are just so damned *cute*. I'm also always just charmed by their strong sense of family feeling. The little ones were obviously almost ready to be out on their own, but each parent had one carefully by their side and if I even looked like I was going to make a move towards them Poppa gave me a thorough growling.
And so help me god, I do love the chittering.
*melts in an utterly girly and undignified fashion*
