updated: style.com updated with the pictures from the collection. i can't say i'm impressed. it's probably the effect of witnessing his couture collection. but is it just me or do some of those clothes look badly cut? well it's not so much about it being badly cut but the material/fabric making the lines look distorted, messy and sometimes, just plain crumpled.
maybe i'm missing the point, but hey, there were still some noteable highs and one can definitely see some parts of the haute couture line spilling over into the ready-to-wear. still, i'm not completely bowled over and this is depressing because i love galliano.
i guess this kinda sums up my week too.
the good:
(it's a pity about the second last model's head, it looks like they stuck a broom sans handle on her. that said, first grey outfit (the other grey outfit other than model with broom on head) should be the quinessential dior look. mmmmm)
the bad:
dear god, ruching is bunching up, he made some models look FAT and i don't particularly like the ruffle tail being tucked into the belt. it looks messy.
and of course the fugly:
WHY GALLIANO WHY?! the cruise collection gaucho clutches were fabulous. the jeanne clutches, they were THE ONE ITEM i wanted so badly. but these clutches, it looks like a failed art project done by kids who bombed their paper weaving classes. WHYYYYYYYYYYYY?! (at this point, i'd like to express that my heart is in pieces and no male has ever broken my heart this badly before)
on hindsight though, the detail shots (shoes in particular and crazy weave bags) are pretty good:
(added lily cole picture for horror factor)
that flicked/forked tail eyeliner look is hot, someone (hello auntie joo! get your stila makeup friend to do it for you!) please mimic it.
i'm too depressed now to do any work (or see some other collections. okay maybe chanel's accessories, if it's up).
