i distinctly recall telling someone that perhaps i did get lobotomised. teenage angst is a hard thing to sustain and god forbid, if it did carry on raging, i might have turned into an all-consuming fair-trade hippie who plants trees to offset my carbon footprint. in other words, i might just become moby. (!)
so there i was staring at this poorly designed poster campaigning for our union to stop the sale of any Proctor & Gamble products because hell, they're a cartel, they are cruel to animals, they will eat your soul if you buy their head & shoulders shampoo to rid yourself of dandruff.
do i give a flying fuck? unfortunately, no. a bunch of cummy (my favourite word) undergrads with wet dreams of orwell and chomsky passing a resolution to urge the union to stop the sale of P&G products isn't going to save furry rabbits, starving african kids or cure AIDS. let's face it, even if every household were to duly comply with the recycling project, it's not going to save the polar bears from the fate of drowning (due to melting ice caps). it's them big corporations, all spewing brimstone and hellfire and playing the four horsemen of the apocalypse.
so people, face it. there's nothing we can do and everything you're doing is about as productive as hugging a tree whilst it gets lumbered over by kleenex. admit it, we're probably going to implode in the next hundred or so years. the best thing we can do is probably to figure out how to haul ass to mars and stay there. bless us all.
(in case i start getting pelted by organic tofu, i do try to cut down on my energy consumption, but hey, all in the name of ever-increasing bills than the environment.)
in other news, why aren't there any good movies? more importantly, why isn't there an alternative to peekvid where i can watch ugly betty eh? it's on the free-to-air channel you corporate assholes, letting me watch the episode on the internet isn't going to rob you off your profits (well unless i stop paying for my tv licence). copyright issues my arse. (guuuuuhhh this reminds me, i've got a short write-up to do on an internet crime. this internet crime module is looking to be a bitch.)
in more unrelated matters, GODDAMN! law students, if you ever need to pull up your average, take a non-law module in your third year. law modules here are capped at 78 tops. the chances of you getting a 78 is pretty low (let's face it). if you took a non-law module with NO CAP on the high score, you can simply pick up basic japanese, get a sodding 80 on it and jack your average to a 68 (in other words, a brilliantly high second upper class). since third year results hold more weightage than the first year, this can only mean, DOUBLE BONUS for a high average. hey between slogging your ass off for a measly 60 average doing all law modules and cruising through with a 68 average by taking some beginner's module in a non-law subject, which would you choose eh?
(in other words, i should have bloody well just signed up for the latin module - bit of a cheater there since i did it in NZ)
